The 2.2 certainly is a tough engine. Who’d have thought that those would be the sought after versions in years to come?!2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: 2 x FL2 as “second” cars 🙄
2021 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200
2022 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200 & sidecar!

And, they only put the 2.2 in for 6 months at launch, so it's a very limited choice, before we get into the wife wanting an Auto, and to be not black/green/white My D3 Build Thread

Sorry to hear your predicament. Take a look at the Ssangyong Rexton. We bought one about 8 weeks ago and it has been great. Gutted my D3 is fubard but it was time to move on for us. May try and resurrect the D3 but will see.James favourite hobby is writing in the third person.

No definitive answer as to the problem yet but from speaking to the garage he thinks it sounds like the big end bearings have spun blocking off oil flow.
Hoping to have a good poke about on Monday

I had it happen to me some years back, but as soon as I heard the engine sound change I quickly stuck in neutral and switched off. Luckily I got away with it and no damage! Here's hoping for you.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

I didnt have that luxury, had to keep going for a few hundred yards and by that time the oil light came on just as I was switching off

Well its home
Garage removes the front cover and confirm the oil pump is ok
so looks like the big ends have spun.
Not doing any more investigation so the motor is scrap
Going to strip it and sell off the parts, just workng this out with Martin as we speak
Unless anyone wants a complete one with a nice dinitrol'd chassis

Very sorry to hear that. Nightmare situation.
I will be interested to hear how easy / quick it will be for you to shift it in parts. So many of the D3's going to Disco heaven i think there may be a lot of spares kicking around the market.James favourite hobby is writing in the third person.
