Having looked at one yesterday, I turned down the offer of a test drive, as I couldn't seem to get comfortable and the looks IMHO are something only Gerry McGovern could love.Andy

that C pillar is just so wrong, as is the fussy rear door treatment. But it does appear to have been well engineered.....

Been out in the new D5 this morning 3.0 HSE , bit of a disappointment as there seems to be less grunt under the bonnet compared to my current D4 even though it is 480kg lighter. Interior is much more plush like the Range Rover which is very nice. Body rolls more than the D4 which is a shame thought they would have stiffened up cornering, yes it's no sports car but you would think it would be more controlled to level.
Rear seats sit lower than the fronts so not sure what's going on there as it's supposed to be stadium seating. Rechecked the front seats to make sure that they were not in the high position which they weren't. You seem to sit more lower down in the rear with knees higher up as well. Not sure what's gone on here so confused to say the least.
Overall very nice vehicle would I love it more than my D4 I honestly don't think I would, the front also looks pig ugly

If you tried the 3.0ltr then it ain't 480kg lighter, only the 2.0ltr is that light.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

I have a 2012 V8 D4 and have not driven any of the V6 iterations. I'm afraid the D5 will be more than just a 'bit' of a disappointment. We'll see.

On test it should drive better all round than D4 as more modern i agree with the seats i thought the same when i viewed it.
Might be tempted for the petrol version as not high miler if i had a choice?

Thanks J77, sales men don't even know what they are selling and I took his word for it.
He said you will notice a difference to your D4 and I said nope acceleration seems slightly lagged and the D4 more responsive.
