Tesla Style Android screen
Hi, I just finish the installation of a 10.4 inch Tesla style android screen in my 2010 D4 hse. I purchased the kit from a supplier in HK.Tracked delivery took 7 days. I had to pay £29 duty. After watching some videos on YouTube I dismantled the center console and removed the touch screen and cd unit(needed access to the back). The kit consists of a processor, screen, harness, small speaker, gps aerial, ribbon connector and a lead to connect to the auxiliary. There is also a new trim.I dismantled the display unit and removed the screen, back plate and lower bracket. Then using the supplied ribbon I connect my unit to the new processor, screwed it on to the front where the screen used to be.The new harness plugs into the cd unit as a y splitter. At this stage I fitted a dab+ dongle connected to the existing dab aerial using a splitter cable and adapter. Finally I plugged in the new screen and another harness with usb connections and put everything back together.Switched on ignition and went through the setup process.Wow,welcome to the age of technology!,Downloaded lots of apps.Biggest surprise was about 30 dab + crystal clear stations here in rural Pembrokeshire. So far I’m loving it, I still have everything I had before display wise plus more stuff than I know what to do with.Nothing was cut or damaged and all can be restored to original. I have added some pictures.

Great thanks.
Do you know if this can be fitted in the 2010 D4 SD. I don't have the touch screen in my one.
It's the old style. With a clock button on the side.

No it’s not possible without the existing display unit.

Have a search around for Navihua.
VERY dodgy company, and an impossible nightmare to deal with if the unit goes wrong (or if the selotape holding the mic/reset to the circuit board gives up the ghost). All you will get from them is "my friend, you send back" - at my own expense even though photos prove the unit was broken upon delivery. Or in my case I then got "we send you external microphone, you pay".
This has now been going on for 9 months!! I've ended up raising a complaint with Alibaba because all they do is mess you around and try to blame you for breaking the unit.

Hey,
so we are dealing with the same company but different issues.
My one is - I can't connect to CarPlay at all.
I got offer the same, which now 8 month later - today I purchased a new unit and once install and if works fine I'll send the other one back to them at my own cost.
Lets not forget we are dealing with China - no Customer Service law

Hi @thisandy. From the posts on this site you sent to have a lot of experience fitting these Tesla type screens. I’m looking to upgrade my 2016 D4 Landmark that has the built in TV system. Do you have experience fitting to this model- was wondering if the TV module can be linked into the screen. If not and I lose front TV function will it still run in the rear?
Also I note they now have Android 10 and 11 systems, have you experience fitting these. This is the one I was looking | Tesla Style Screen Android 11 Car Radio For Land Rover Discovery 4 LR4 2009-2016 GPS Navigation Car Stereo DVD Player Carplay

OR

Final question, in your experience does the 4x4 and remote vehicle heating functions work on these system? Thanks

There are different versions of these devices. One type has knobs on the side bezel, the others don’t.
The type with knobs seems to be a complete replacement for the entire existing head unit(perhaps for vehicles with basic equipment) so you would loose all functions controlled by the existing screen. I may be wrong on this but I have not been able to get a definite answer from suppliers. You need to be careful there.Maybe someone on here will update us.
As for the other type without physical knobs, you will retain all the functions you had before controlled from the new screen.
The android system version makes no difference to the installation process.
This video shows the installation for your vehicle.
.
Hope this helps.

Everything you have now will still be there in the new Tesla Style Android system so yes your tv will work. You can also install stuff like Now tv and bt sports apps.
Effectively you are connecting your existing head unit to a bigger screen which is also an android tablet.
If you are interested in going ahead with your upgrade, I have a unit for sale. You can pm me if you want details.
