Tesla and Climate screen upgrade

Just finished an upgrade to a tesla screen and also a LCD climate screen. I installed a tesla style screen last year but wasn't happy with it. The system had a plastic trim surround which just didn't look right and wasn't upgradable. After a bit of searching I found a new style system with Android 11 and also the climate screen. I opted to have it fitted as this included a 12mth warranty. Fitting was really easy to be honest and everything is plug and play. The new plastic surround looks so much nicer with the control switches on it.
The climate upgrade is fantastic but you do lose the CD player which wasn't an issue for me. I have since seen the upgrades for sale on ebay with a slot in them so you can keep your CD. The touch screens on both upgrades are very user friendly. All in all I love it.

Do you have a link to the unit running Windows 10?

Its the only thing dragging the D4 back - having Carplay.

The Tesla screen for me just doesn't cut it for me on an aesthetic level (and connecting via AUX instead of MOST is also a turn off)
If we could get a LR landscape screen into a restyled cockpit that would be great but its never going to happen Big Cry

I bought it off a Facebook group called UK Light Modifications. Speak to Lee Yates.

Looks great, does the Tesla Style Android allow you to access the original Land Rover information.

This screen is totally different to the one both you and I had. The whole radio and CD player are no longer used. I can still access the 4x4 screen but it's not the same layout. I use an App for DAB radio although I do have a built in FM. all the steering wheel controls work as they did before. I have a remote for the FBH so losing that screen hasn't caused any problems. I can honestly say it's so much nicer and easier to use than the other one.

Looks great! Certainly modernises the D4.

I like the slightly retro utilitarian look of the D4 so fitted this…..

It keeps everything working (other than the Nav) and gives CarPlay and android through the original 7” screen. It’s a great upgrade and I now use CarPlay through the excellent meridian speakers. After using Google maps nothing else really does the job for navigation.

Just thought I’d post an alternative if you wanted to keep the oem look.

Great upgrade though… really like the way it keeps a dial for the heating particularly.
A mod a week until I have nothing to improve or add.

United States

I got a similar unit last week. Mine is a 2012 LR4 with the Bosch unit.
It's a full replacement, but I can't get sound on the car speakers. I tested the wires coming off of the android unit on a separate speaker and the sound is fine.
Any ideas?

I had the same problem with my unit which was solved using a optical loop connector. This is the item number on eBay.
eBay Item No. 114011643235
It plugs into the module in the boot just behind the O/S trim. Fold the rear seat behind the driver and pull the trim away from there.

I am working on this project right now and expect to have it finished by early September provided all my components arrive on schedule.
I will do a write up and share my progress.
