TDV6 3.0 ???
i'm new to Disco3.co.uk & plan to order a TDV6 HSE in the next 2 months... before doing so, does anyone have any news on rumoured plans to introduce a TDV6 3 litre? (I am aware of the TDV8, but i think i saw a Turbochip thread/post referring to a bigger V6 also in the pipeline.) would welcome any info before committing on the lesser, current engine...
The 'lesser' V6 is plenty for me.Discovery 3 tdv6 7 seat Buckingham Blue

Re: TDV6 3.0 ???
I work at the plant where we build the TDV6 (we call it the Lion). The TDV8 is well on its way. I'v heard rumours that the TDV6 will be increased in size, but there's no work in progress, so it must be a way off yet. I'll ask around...Disco 5 HSE Lux

Is it because there is a lot of Peugeot in it?

No, all our engines have 'cat' names - Lynx (1.8 D), Puma (2.0/2.2 D), Lion (2.7 V6/3.7 V8) and Tiger to be launched soon (another PSA joint venture, 1.4/1.6 D).Disco 5 HSE Lux

Well, I've asked around and it seems there's not going to be a 3.0 V6 in the near future. There is an upgrade due for 2007MY, but this is for Euro 4 emissions and will not be a major difference.
Its strange because I heard ages ago (when the line was being installed) that a 3.0 upgrade was likely. Maybe its been shelved while they work on the V8)8.
I'll find out more next week - stuck on nights this week, so not many engineers' about. In fact, there're no engineers' about....Disco 5 HSE Lux

Any speculation on the power and torque output of the diesel V8?
I seem to remember some doubts about whether it would go in the Disco. It would be a shame if it does not.

"New Ford V8 diesel [Reuters UK Mon 10 Apr, 2006, 15:08]
Ford has announced the first details of its new V8 diesel engine.
The new engine produces 270 bhp from its 3.6 litre capacity. Although full details of the engine are still to be released, it is clearly very closely related to the excellent 2.7 litre V6 used in Jaguar and Land Rover models: if a 204 bhp 2.7 V6 was scaled up to a V8, you would expect a capacity of 3.6 litres and a power output of 272 bhp. The new engine will also be used by Jaguar and Land Rover, as both the XJ8 and the Range Rover need more powerful diesels to compete with German competitors.

Thank you - hopefully it will make it into the Disco after the RR and RRS have it for a year's worth of exclusivity.
I wouldn't trade up to the RR/RRS to get the V8 as I need the 7 seats. Anyone else?

The V8 is just the V6 with the two extra cylinders. Its built on the same line as the V6, by the same machines. The line was designed for the two variants.Disco 5 HSE Lux
