LR insurance aren't bothered about any modifications unless they change the vehicles performance.

I told them about my sump guard - they didn't care Smile

And they cover off road use.

Thankfully my D3 is with NFU who have a list of mods and happy with it. My mods would have them dumbstruck so didn't even try. Both of the Jazzez are with Privilege and had to make sure the second set of rims for their winter tyres was the same type as the original ones. If they were different I'd have to pay a fee every time they were changed, even when changed back to original ones. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

NFU have my car, they weren't worried about all the mods including a sump guard.

They also agreed to insuring my Dad as main driver & referring all questions & policy control to him while I'm over yonder with no issues. My previous company were trying to insist I register Dad as the owner & transfer back to me on my return, no chance!

Rather than end up in a sticky situation I've just taken the sump guard off for now.

Thanks for the recommendations for other insurers but it's an increase of approx £300 per year.

I think I'll try reasoning with them & explaining that a sump guard is in fact to everyone's benefit…..

I'll let you know how I get on.

Lv accepted my sump guard but I've now changed to aplan and everything is covered including Offroad and green Lanes

LV refused to insure me full stop, clean licence, no claims for over seventeen years, D4 is not a vehicle they will insure I was told last year.

They wouldn't insure me for my D3 as a second car a couple of weeks ago. Something odd in their risk tables there Confused
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Thats odd - last year, I went through a different broker and was insured by a subsidiary of LV that would cover the mods.

I am with admiral and I listed all my mods with them and it only came to £60 more.

With the sumpguard they said as long as I am not going off road then it is fine. Thumbs Up

All 3 of my Disco's have been insured with LV. They required a tracker to be fitted to the D4's though.

I've had a couple of non fault accidents and LV were great to deal with. I could have saved £25 by going through A Plan, but the insurer was a firm I'd never heard off. So I decided to stay with LV.

Adrian flux always cover off road and green lane, always have - ive been with them (ignoring a short break) for years, mainly on the older LR's and all the mods plus full off road cover

Ignoring the fact that it being a £300 increase seems high (try shopping around) Look at it like this, you are getting more comprehensive and appropriate cover?

Adrian Flux and APlan for me

I'm with Adrian Flux for my D3.

Trying to find an insurer to cover a 26 yo with a D3 with mod's and get under £600 was a nightmare.
AF have me for £330 FC. Thumbs Up

That may change upwords when i discuss some plans later in the year though but i don't see it going north of £400.

Remember that a 'green lane' has no legal definition, and is usually taken to mean an unsealed public highway... if any insurance company tells you you are not covered they are not meeting their commitments under law.

I've yet to ever see any policy wording that excludes greenlaning... anyone?
