| Summer Off Road Adventure Weekend 19 - 21 July 13 |

Following on from the success of our Welsh Winter greenlaning trip, 4x4 Adventures are now offering a Summer Offroad Adventure Weekend based in the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park. The weekend will appeal to anyone wanting to learn more about the capabilities of their 4x4, and would be of particular interest to anyone planning to undertake an Overlanding trip with their vehicle. Over the course of the weekend we will be covering topics such as route planning and vehicle preparation, while combining team-building, off road driving, and bush mechanics. We will also be demonstrating and practicing various vehicle recovery methods.
Participants are welcome to arrive at the camp site from Thursday the 18th July, though it is expected that most people would be on site by late Friday evening. The weekends' activities will begin on the Saturday morning with a drive around the immediate area, all on private land, which will involve taking your vehicle on unsurfaced tracks, fields and technical obstructions such as ditchs and side slopes. We will be giving tips for driving over difficult terrain and you can expect opportunities to work together to overcome obstacles and to learn about recovery techniques. The route will be non-damaging and suitable for all 4x4 vehicle and driver capability/combinations.
Following lunch, a couple of practical demonstrations will introduce participants to vehicle preparation for overland travel/offroad use, plus vehicle recovery techniques. Hopefully the afternoon sessions will give everyone the chance to develop a healthy appetite as we will be preparing an evening BBQ using local produce (all included) for all participants. After the BBQ you should chill out and settle down with a glass of wine/beer for an illustrated talk about the planning and execution of overland trips in Europe and North Africa. As darkness falls we will retire to the camp fire pit to swap stories.
Sunday will offer the chance to put the previous days experiences into practice when we head out into the wilds of Mid Wales on a mini-expedition traversing a series of non-damaging green lanes. We will travel in small groups (max. 5 cars), and although each group will have an official lead vehicle, everyone will be offered the chance to navigate and lead should they feel confident enough to do so. We aim to finish the laning trip between 3 and 4 pm.
The 4x4 Adventures Summer Weekend will take place in the Black Mountains, about 10 miles from Abergavenny and will cost £200 per vehicle assuming 2 adults per vehicle. A summary of the weekend timetable can be found at the end of this page. As with all our events places will be limited so early booking is advisable.
