Yorkshire Green Lane for beginner this weekend
I'm wanting to take the Wife out this weekend fora bit of greenlane/off road experience.
Nothing daunting just something to show her what the Disco can do and perhaps nice scenery.
Is there anywhere around North Yorkhire I can go and not get into trouble?

Rudland Rigg from Gillamoor to Ingleby Bank.
you'll probably need some experience or spotters for the steep rocky end section.
But you can always do it as a there & back.
Just need to be aware of the many walkers on this route (especially over Easter) who feel there shouldn't be any motorised traffic allowed.
You are legal though.
For something much lighter you can always drive up the gated track from Arden Hall in Hawnby up to the Cleveland way, then down to Kepwick, or do it other way around. - Don't Drive on the Cleveland Way!!
I'm out on the Moors this weekend so will keep an eye out for you.
Other than that there are a good few lanes in the Dales.
...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Cheers!!
Was supposed to be out on bike up there but me knees are really struggling with the cold this year so the heated seat and heaters are winning hands down at the moment.. Its Freezing up there!!
So do I just route find it or can I get more info from somewhere.
I doubt the camel will spot for me and that might be a tab too scary for her...

Scott, I edited my post to add a little softer drive.
You can always take a flask and stop for a cupp at the top ( with good views)....... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Watch out for the snow it will hide many dangers from pot holes to sharp rocks and the drainage ditches at the road side.
Snow can make a very rough rocky surface look very smooth.
And obviously it can be a lot more slippy
Have you got any recovery equipment?
What will you do if you get a couple of punctures or stuck several miles from anywhere ?
Mobile phones do not always work in the middle of nowhere!
Never go alone especially in the bad weather . There is safety in numbers.
Regards
Jonathan

Thanks Jonathon,
Growing up on Farm and a croft in Scotland I know the dangers and of snow and the things it can hide.
Recovery equipment I don't have much but would never go or attempt something without walking it first or without having another vehicle with me. If its a hard route I would always take an experienced person and another vehicle just to be on the safe side.
Cheers.
