Very strange noise tonight... |
|
5 minutes into the this evenings journey,I heard a sound from towards the back of the car, which I can only describe as like the sound a Coke bottle makes when opened...except it lasted until I could get the car to a halt.
I then checked the fuel filler,as it sounded vaguely like the noise that makes when the pressure equalises, nothing amiss there, and the pressure released as normal....I cannot see any hoses disconnected either,as it was roughly that sort of sound too.
Couldn't see or hear anything when stopped, but when I set off again I had a rotational speed-related churning from the offside rear.
Pulled over again, stuck it in reverse (in case it was a stone caught) and there was nothing....set off again and a minute later there was a small metallic clang (sounded like a spring releasing) and the churning noise stopped
I've had a look with a flashlight, but there is nothing obvious, and I don't appear to have any loose hoses or fluid leaks....bit of a weird one,and just wondered if anyone has any suggestions as to what I should be looking at first in the morning ? "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

That was my initial thought (the reason I stopped and reversed for a short distance)....the rotational churning, and the metallic ping would fit with a stone releasing also....but the low pressure hissing that preceded it doesn't fit....it sounded a bit like an air-line springing a leak, and lasted 20seconds or so until I found a safe place to stop the car.
Car drives fine, brakes are fine also and no lights on the dash "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...
