Squealing Front Brake

Front right hand brake makes an awful squealing noise (its very loud and quite embarrassing) when braking moderately (no noise when braking gently and less noise when braking hard)

Only happens then brakes are warm when cold no noise at all, and only on one wheel

Has started since new pads where installed (pads appear to be Apec)

Any ideas?

Theres no copper on the backing plate but they have a backing pad so I don't think they need it

The pads get reasonable reviews on the internet

Were the brake pad reviews re the D3? If not, put in some OEM pads and check again.

Yes - Its not cured it but it is much reduced - I fitted Delphi pads which are apparently OEM

I get squealing on both sides now but it no ear splitting - I'm pretty sure the cause is the old discs are quite worn and the pads as they expand when warm rub on the lips of the discs but I can't be certain

cheers for the reply mate , my discs do have a slight lip , i was thinking the same that they rub slightly , so loud at times you find your self with light pressure on the brakes to shut it up , thinking of upgrading to v8 discs and pads see if it cures it Smile

I had this exact same problem, got a new set of pads from Land Rover and not had a problem since.
