Is my clutch going?

Recently the clutch on my D3 has started to feel dodgy

I get a judder when putting the clutch pedal down on changing gear or when coming to a stop

I've noticed one of the hills I used to get up fine in 3rd with the horse trailer, I now find myself going to 1st. Doesn't feel to much like its slipping, but dont want to put too much power in to make it slip (if tha makes sense)

Gear changes are sometimes a bit of a struggle/clunky

Doesn't seem to effect anything at high speed, just more low down and maneuvering

So does it sound like it could need changing soon?

The cars done 110k with the last 70k done by myself, so dont know if its had a clutch changed in the past

SWMBO has had the car the last 5 months, so think the clutch might have taken more abuse recently Whistle

Thanks

Ade

Hi Ade,
Hard to tell from your description.

One of the earliest obvious signs you'll get of your clutch being on its way out is to go back to the aforementioned hill, as you approach the foot of the hill put it in 5th and floor it!
- If the engine revs die down (because you won't have enough power to go up the hill in 4th) , then your clutch is working ok.
- If the engine revs stay up and you're dropping speed, then its a sure sign the clutch is slipping
