The Simpson Desert in a D3
Hi fellow forum-ites,
For those of you who aren't on the AULRO forum I have posted this link to my story about my recent desert crossing in the D3 and "living with it" in those conditions.

Same here, would love to read it if you can chuck another link up somewhere. I don't really want to sign up for another forum. I only end up spending money
For those who aren't familiar with the Simpson Desert it is the worlds largest parallel dune desert. About the size of Belgium? It's about 630km across and approx 1100 (yes, one thousand one hundred) dunes to cross. Allow about 4 days for the crossing. The Desert Park is closed for summer as you can die out there in the heat. This is a trip on most Skippies "bucket list"

Cracking adventure. Well done.
On the puncture, we had almost identical 'rocky road' conditions in Oman. After a few trial runs and very frequent punctures, we took the advice of the locals and fitted inner tubes to the vehicles. And that was the end of the punctures. The car's behaved perfectly well on very long stretches of paved highway, also.(i mention this because the doom and gloom mongers will tell you that by putting inner tubes into tubeless tyres you risk almost certain death, plague and famine; we took 4 x LR and we all made it back in one piece after a month or so of running inner tubes on tubeless tyres).PAGODA

Brill thanks for that Matti I think we all have problems like yours, I use 17" wheels and tyres that are better on the rough stuff. Not to mention the compressor being over worked. Mantec sump guard.
Prospeed tree slider/steps.
Flack duel battery system.
18"Compomotive/AT3 tyres
Brembo 4pot front brakes
