I was wondering if anyone out there have fitted side steps to their Dicso 3's, if so what type and what was the cost.

Have a look at eBay. There are several types ranging from £150-250. I am contemplating buying some myself and would be interested to hear from anyone who has fitted non LR sidesteps. WINBO is the manufacturer I have been looking at.

I went for the 'official' LR ones (sourced from Yeovil LR; thanks Nick) for two reasons:
1) ease access for the children
2) protect the sides of the car in side-by-side parking situations (leave it in off-road height)
When I had the Front Runner rack, it also added
3) assist loading on roof.

(Should you wish to flout common sense and emulate the silents, you could add
4) recreate keystone cops' ability to drive with an extra half-dozen bods on the running boards)

The main downside is that they are not quickly removed for off-roading; certain situations will jeopardize their existence. A number of forum members have pranged/bent them on off-rad days.
You'll also require a new set of plastic cill trims if you want to permanently remove them, as fitting them requires a three large holes to be cut in each original piece.

Thanks Dr Lex.

So the phrase "No drilling is needed as all original holes are used." is just slightly 'inaccurate'!

well, could be correct, strictly speaking, as all the holes are all there in the chasis, you just need to cut the sills, so supose this is not drilling..... Rolling Eyes

Some quick questions on the subject:

1) Is it easy (and by easy I mean properly simple, easier than ikea furniture) to fit these yourself
2) Where is the best place (ebay aside) to get my hands on the official LR equipment
3) How much are these gonna cost me? (and how much would it cost to get them fitted?)
4) Who's the man at Yeovil LR? Does he do much cheapness? How do I find him??

Any assistance would be appreciated.

1) pretty much , cutting the slots out of the plastic cill trims is the most time consuming part.battery drill and a stanley knife needed.Easier if you have a dremmel tool.

2)Best place is Yeovil LandRover , Nick Lee the Parts Manager is also a member here ( AKA The Large One) see this thread for some indicative prices http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic3676.html .Contact details are there aswell , give him a call next week and he'll sort you out a decent price.

3) I bought mine second hand from a member here , I haven't a scooby what they cost new But gain NIck will be the cheapest

4) already answered above

Apparently need no holes drilling. Has anyone fitted them? Are they unbranded LR parts or cheap imitations?

I dont think they are official LR ones so can't comment on the quality. Maybe someone else here has them fitted.

One thing though on the picture. Why I wonder is the air intake is on the wrong side Confused
