My Sat Nav TMC seems to be a little wayward. I thought it was strange that, when I bought the car, the TMC was tuned to GWR Wilts rather than Classic FM. Of course, tuned to this station the TMC symbol had a red line through it with no TMC info.
On four occasions now I have re-tuned it to Classic FM and TMC then works, for a while, before resetting itself to GWR Wilts.
I don’t think that this happens whilst driving, it seems to be on start-up.
Anyone else had this problem or knows of a cure?

Yep, I've had exactly the same problem only in my case TMC selects "2Ten FM". Curiously, I think both GWR and 2Ten broadcast on the same frequency (GWR - Swindon, 2Ten - Reading). They're also both owned by the same company (just to throw in another red herring). On my second retune to Classic FM and I've only had the car 7 days!
Got to say I'm really please with it though - Arctic Frost TDV6 HSE Auto

mine's been fine, although I do get the red line through the TMC icon occasionally more to do with CFM rather than the Disco 3 though...

Mine often has the TMC with the red line through it - first TMC unit was changed as the actual button dissapeared from the menu. Replacement unit still has the red line syndrome, although it still seems to pick upi the info. I assumed it's just the icon lagging behind the software or such... by about an hour! D3 HSE V8...

A long answer - but hope it helps those interested...
The TMC service is provided to Land Rover inder a Ford group licence to iTIS
ITIS launched its UK national TMC service ("iTMC") in January 2002. Since then it has become the leading commercial TMC service with most of the major car manufacturers and leading satellite navigation system providers in the UK.
iTMC is provided under licence directly with its business customers who include:
Vehicle Manufacturers & Brands
Bentley
BMW
Ford
Jaguar
Land Rover
Lexus
Mercedes-Benz
Mini
Nissan
Porsche
Renault
Saab
Subaru
Toyota
Vauxhall
Volkswagen
Volvo
Aftermarket Navigation and Mapping
Alpine
Blaupunkt
Clarion
Kenwood
Navteq
Panasonic
Pioneer
Tele Atlas
VDO Dayton
Zenrin
iTMC is broadcast on a unique and exclusive RDS sub-carrier licence on Classic FM, the UK's only national FM commercial broadcaster. The service covers 95% of the strategic road network in the UK and draws its high quality content both from ITIS's own Floating Vehicle Data (FVD) network, the worlds largest implementation of FVD, as well as other important journalistic sources which provide "cause" and other important driver information.
ITIS has been a key player in the development of TMC and Europe and remains active in the industry.
From the above - stolen unmercifully from the TMC forum (http://www.tmcforum.com/en/home.htm) you can see that the only station that the Land Rover TMC service should be tuned into within the UK is Classic FM.
I understand that in parts of the country, there are some anomalies over FM frequency allocation, and the RDS signal should sort this out - but unfortunately it occasionally doesn't when the nearby and conflicting station is also a TMC broadcaster (like Chrysalis radio) - broadcasting Trafficmaster TMC services... used by other manufacturers like Honda..
No fix possible on this one - since you really have NO control over the data sent you, nor do you have any control over who sends it... that's all decided at the licencing stage.
It's unlikely that if the TMC service in your vehicle works - that anything is wrong with it even if the re-tuning of the service becomes a pain... the unit is built to find the strongest signal for the licenced TMC service - if that happens to be on a slightly conflicting frequency, and RDS doesn't help out by re-tuning to the correct service (due to the frquency allocation conflicts) - then the TMC unit tries to decode the TMC information from another provider - but cannot do so because it's not licensed!
Hence the TMC unavailable icon in the top LHS of the screen.
I understand all this stuff - because I had to once... and yes, it happens to me too. But IMHO the benefits - because 95% of the time it works well - outweigh these issues.
Hope this enlightens...

Great info above. Still think mine is bust as it only looses the station on start-up on cold days. It never looses Classic FM when the system is up and running. TMC still works fine in our BMW 530d too.

I suspect that the weather correlation relates to a reception issue. Mine loses Classic FM from time to time, but quickly corrects itself.
