If I copy the HSE's premium sat nav disk will it work in my SE's non- premium sat nav?

I think the disk is the same. The extra functions on the HSE are programmed into the system flash rom.
The disc only contains the data. So yes it will work.

So it's the same data on the disk then- can I get the ROM flashed anywhere?

You may possibly get the off-road nav working that way (not that you'll ever use it) but it'll get confused trying to get the 4x4 info working without the extra sensors The End

I'm just wondering here (as i already have it), but what extra sensors? Only sensors I can imagine are used are the air suspennsion height sensors and the steering angle sensors, all of which are present with terrain response. IE - 05 D3 TDV6 HSE - Zambezi Silver
SA - 07 VW Golf TDI - White - Sold!

Dunno, I was under the impression that there was extra 'gubbins' for the 4x4 info, could be wrong though..... The End

Seem to remember the SE doesn't have TMC as standard so you'd need extra hardware to get that working The End

Correct, the SE has the standard Nav. The premium version gives you TMC, voice control and 4x4 info.
All the hardware for the 4x4 info is there already, but the interface software is not. I don't think that you will be able to get this loaded independently. If you want TMC, as far as I can tell you just get the module and it is plug and play.....I took mine out and theTMC button disappeared; plugged it back in and it was back to normal.

I am jsut about to get an SE, with the standard sat nav.
Do I understand correctly that it is just a matter of plugging in another module ( perhaps from Nick the breaker ) that I can have all the functions of the premium sat nav? NOW SOLD: 2006 TDV6 SE Auto Zermatt silver with Alpaca Leather

No, sir, that is not the case.
The 4x4 info will not be available; however, you should be able to plug in the TMC module and have that service. Voice control will also not be available to you, as this is loaded onto the Sat Nav computer.

I have an SE with the premium sat nav, and I HAD to order the Bose premium audio system to get the TMC option
Probably that's for the voice commanding, but you never know...
