Tank
I need one for the standard tank. I did the klipdrift trail with some Jeep Rubicons at the start they said my "Soft Roader" will not make it, in the end they where quite impressed. Anyway I dented the Fuel Tank on a rocky obstacle that activated the extended mode due to the break over angle needed.2012 Discovery 4 SDV6 SE 50mm Suspension Lift, Front Runner RR, Drawers, Tuffstuff Underbody Armour.

Mariusjnr, I can meet you this weekend to show you the FR protection guard for the aux tank. Burgersfort and Ohrigstad is only 60km apart. I can also supply you a J-Rods lift kit at the same time.
Just not Sunday... we will be playing in the Olifants river from 11h00. You can join if you want.

I got tired of trashing the gas tank (had problems with the pump and the float).
So, decided on making something here... Should be finished in 1 week (too much going on at the office).
But here is a teaser... Since I have the rovertym sliders, I'm closing up everything between them.
Made a belly for the tank, and cutouts for the exhaust parts (some heat dissipation)....

Hey Roveribis,
Seems I keep bumping into you huh!
Just out of interest, what plate thickness are you using there? What sort of weight are you ending up with from it? And, how much rigidity are you expecting to get with that one longitudinal rib?
I've been around with a few different designs, but have ended up going with a full width plate to slider that is hard mounted to the frame and then live mounted to the body rails via bushes to allow flex. Still only on paper at the moment, until I finish off the bull bar.
Looking forward to seeing the results mate, good stuff.

Hi! Good to hear you're planning on doing the same. I could sure use ideas.
The plates are 1/8". This is why I added the cross members.
The rib makes a huge difference!
I'm using the rovertym sliders to provide part of the support on the sides.
I'm figuring things out as I build.
I can weigh the slider tomorrow, but it's pretty heavy!!
Right now my main concern is final attachment.
I'm concerned with having attachments to help withstand twisting.
After I work this out, I got some rubber material to use as bushings.
My plan is to get it all done by Sunday night, we'll see if family plans allow for it.-------------------

Hi Marius,
I'm not sure if you are aware that the fuel tank is plastic and protected by a metal (steel?) shield underneath.
My D3 is a coiler and in undertaking some trials (before I fitted longer springs) I found that the protection plate was damaged and had to be replaced, while the plastic tank was able to be bent" back into shape.
Best Wishes,

Plastic tank
Yes I saw the steel is only a protection plate for the plastic tank, I will get one of my friends to build me proper underbody protection. to replace the standard plates and plastic covers with.2012 Discovery 4 SDV6 SE 50mm Suspension Lift, Front Runner RR, Drawers, Tuffstuff Underbody Armour.

Custom Tank (and more) skid plate.
Well, I finally installed my first try at steel construction. Had to learn to use a hand-held plasma cutter and a tig welder . It has been fun... Check it out. (I'm still working on the rear differential plate).
