Reversing Sensors - any ideas?
Hi All,
For a while I've had reversing sensors that were intermittently faulty - usually after heavy rain. Symptom was no loud beep when selecting reverse and then no warning when reversing.
Now I 've moved on to reversing sensors that are intermittently working (ie they're more often not working at all).
Any ideas where to start? Am guessing it's a broken wire somewhere, but not sure where to start looking or how much needs to be disassembled to investigate.
Mine's been doing this recently. Today it was fine, later it probably won't be and tomorrow who knows.
Get yourself an IID and it'll tell you which ones need replacing like this:

Mine is NSR Left because I went swimming on Salisbury recently. Apparently it's the easiest sensor to change without removing the bumper. But I'll darned if I can get my hand up three to undo the clips and remove it, so it bumper-off for me.!!!

I don't have an IID, saw a post suggesting that I listen to each one in turn, and the one that doesn't tick is the faulty one. Only problem with that is that none of mine tick!
Guess I'm going to have to get underneath and see if I can eyeball the wiring.

You could have the same issue that I had on my D3. A tiny nick in one of the sensor wires, when water got in it gave the faults you describe, when it dried out (it was summer) it worked, until it got wet/damp again.
It was fixed under warranty, but the dealer couldn't find the tiny nick in the wire at first.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

My Indy fixed them for me today (as it was in for diagnosis of an engine issue). He found two broken wires (well, technically one wire broken in two places), near the connector where the wiring loom goes into the car.
All fixed now, and no parts needed! Phew!!
(And he fitted my replacement brake switch for free, took pity on me I guess).
He didn't take pity, you drive a Land Rover so he knows you'll be back! Front Runner Rack, OEM Ladder & RAI, Tuff-Trek Foxwing, B'rakhah Ingonyama Expedition Trailer, RLD's Spare Wheel Protector, Bodsy's Bars, Empty Pockets! Member of Gloucestershire & Worcestershire 4x4 Response.
