Good God it looks a big un !
Look at the size of the back end compared to the DS, And that's in access mode where as you can see the the DS is jacked up above the wheels theres a clear gap.
I purcheased a DS on it's release believing that it was a Discovery. It became apparent very quickly that it wasn't. Looking at that it looks like one of those Russian dolls where you can fit one inside the other.Only dead fish go with the Flow !

I had a DS for a day and did 300 miles.
I was glad to give it back, can't fault my new D4 D4 2016 Landmark, Waitomo Grey.

Why no love for the DS? I know it's not a hard core off-roader, but infotainment system aside (even in the 2017MY one) I find it to be a well built, comfortable, versatile and fun-to-drive vehicle. I also have a RRS and, given a choice on a reasonably local run, will take the DS anytime. PhilJava TDV6 HSE with Alpaca and a few other fancy bits

I had the HSE Lux and found it boring on the Inside, After owning a D3 for 7 years you would think i would be happy for an upgrade. There was litterally no where to put anything. My Son had gotten used to the D3 as we all had and the first thing he said on the Sunday morning going to a Rugby game was.......
Err, where am i suposed to put my drinks bottle?
Not sure try a drinks bottle holder.......... There arent any? Not fot a large water bottle with the right angle spout where you squeeze it......
Then How are we supposed to get Tackle pads, a bag full of balls and kit in boot? Err, dont they fit?
The 2 seats that take up half the boot space are a joke, literally they take the . Compared to my wifes VW Tiguan i'd drive that any day over the Discovery Sport. Given the choice myself, theres no way i would prefer driving a Disco Sport over a RRS. That's just me though.Only dead fish go with the Flow !

My initial thoughts were, the D5 is just a slightly bigger clone of the DS. They are very similar in external looks.
I think there will lots of moans and groans about it when the D5 retails. It ain't a D4.
I found the DS is capable and more than adequate for everyday use. The D4 had a great drivers seating position and larger boot space, although in my case, not used to its capacity. I can't think of anything else I miss, certainly not the servicing costs, VED and the way it ate tyres.

Both look fine. I'm ok with the similarities. Don't like the D5 colour but that's personal.
I have driven a few DSs and they are fine cars but any of us coming from a D4 will always find fault with space, ride etc. That's not a fair comparison.
I used to like the old Tiguan but found the boot too small, the drive was good though. The new one maybe nice but, for me, VW is now a toxic brand and I refuse to touch it. More people should think about that as they have done little in Europe to address customer issues.
PS Just read the tyre comment above. My D3 came on 18 inch Pirellis and always ate the middle sections even on correct pressures. My D4 came on 19 inch Good Years and they wear much better. Brakes lasting longer too. Oh and I bought the five year (well four year for me) service plan and waited for stop/start to get the VED down. Great car the later D4 but times change.2014MY Discovery

Curious about it eating tyres. I get about 40-45,000 miles out of each set and I change them at 4mm. I've also found that they wear very evenly across the tyre.D4 HSE EU6 (Known as Jeeves)
