Hi Everyone,
Just wondering if i wanted to go for a Ignition Live circuit, could i pick up the dimming internal mirror live? As that is obviously so close to where i need to be it would save running across the headlining and down the pillar.
I was just a little worried that the mirror circuit maybe not be man enough, but looking at the camera spec, it seems to pull a tiny current. I could put a fuse in-line with the camera live for added protection, but I just wondered if anyone had given it a go?

The fuse is so easy to get to if you drop the door trim, then just poke a net curtain wire thing, through from the door side into the centre of the car in the headlining. Took me longer to unscrew the grab handles than what it did to run the cable.
I then wired in a lighter socket by the fusebox and plugged the power plug in for the camera detector.
Just make sure you run the small plug end up to the headlining and not the cigarette plug down (you won't get the plug in through the gap between bottom if door and the dash)

Just added a 12 volt outlet and USB charger to the front dash cubby ready for the camera to be wired in, went for a switched live off F34 IIRC.

Well like all the wires behind the airbag I guess they get squished for a fraction of a second.

If the wire is crossing from the headliner to behind the a-pillar, doesn't that mean it would catch a deploying curtain airbag, possibly pulling the cable and headliner down with it?
This is just strictly conjecture. Not sure if anyone has thought more about it.2011 LR4 HSE Lux

Aftermarket wires should follow the path of existing wires behind the airbag, so should not impact airbag deployment.
