Right, I've got it now. I thought the 'add a circuit' was going into empty spaces but maybe not. I've got the concept right now Wink

Regarding the wifi; I was looking for a wifi button in the actual blackvue software Rolling Eyes I didn't think it meant the laptop wifi connections. Now I know what I'm suposed to do the rest should be straight forward.

Thanks for your patience and assistance Farmer Chalk Thumbs Up

Don't panic....I found out the hard way... The 'add a fuse' looks as though it is a fuse but think of it as two spade connectors that need bridging.... Hence the need for two fuses to be placed in the slots..one to complete the bridge for the original circuit hence using the fuse that you've taken from the circuit board and one for the new circuit....

When you're fitting it Pm me and I'll give you my mobile and I'll guide you through it.. I'll also have a look at which fuse number I used which will make it easier for you when you have a look at your fuseboard!

Update:

Thanks to Farmer Chalk I'm nearly ready to go Smile

screen position confirmed - check
wiring installed and hidden away all the way to fuse box - check
earth attached to torque screw- check
add a circuit connected - check
2A fuse installed - check (smallest I had)

now the next question, I'm not using a power magic at the moment so don't want to connect to fuse 28 (perm live), is there a suitable fuse I can piggy back on that will give me a switchable live power source and won't cause any other issues?

Thanks Nick

All resolved, now using the cigarette lighter fuse. I can switch to fuse 28 for the times that I want a permanent live.

Russell - I am considering one for the back too. What did you use for your live feed? I'm assuming you haven't run it all the way back to the fuse box.

Thanks everyone for your help Thumbs Up

Permanent live?

When you guys mean permanent live does that mean the camera is always on, or only on when the ignition is turned on? Thanks.

Permanent live = always powered.
Ignition switched live = only when ignition is on.

As an extra variable some use a power magic type of device to isolate the perm live when the voltage drops to a predetermined value.

Thanks Robbie... a few more questions

So if I wanted to piggyback off a fuse that goes on with the ignition I would be looking for a fuse that does that, Cigarette lighter fuse should work, right?) and also do I need to plug the charger into a female cigarette plug like pictured below to regulate the volts to the camera? Thanks for all the info, appreciate it.

Quick question to those who've dropped the door trim (as per page 2), whilst trying to get the cable from the interior light centre panel to to the door, I've got air bags in the roof lining which I'm worried to try and move.
It's not very willing to open up unlike in the pictures.

Any tips?
Cheers

If you mean this photo, have you removed the grab handle from inside the car? If you remove the grab handle you can just ease the roof lining down far enough to poke a stiff wire through with the power lead attached and then pull it through Thumbs Up

Sorry MX, missed this first time around. Yes, you would piggyback off a suitable ignition-switched fuse and the lighter/accessory sockets are a typical source. The need for the charger / female plug assembly would vary between accessory types, but even if there is not a direct need some choose to fit a female socket to make it easier to swap devices in the future.

Cheers Ian.
I hadn't removed the handle, but will tackle it next weekend now. (a family walk along the beach for lunch took president today).
