Ok seems the front sensor and I suspect the back go brittle with age. It looks a mare to run the new sensor cable ! Seems to disappear under the plastic wing cover underneath. Are they really awkward to replace ? Can see the snips coming out and a short going in!

They are not hard to swap. You need remove the scrivets that hold the wheel arch liner in place (not all of them) bend the liner so you can get your hand behind, don't be scared, they are very strong and can be bent a lot! If you want, put a piece of wood in to hold it back, unplug the old cable, replug the new.
Yes they are brittle and usually break when removed from the pad.

I took out the arch liner. Realised where it was and didn't even attempt it before removing the liner.

Once you sus it out they are not too bad but the killer for me is the flexible plastic tab that the locating barb fits through it is a nightmare to remove and if it was on the permenant cable not the brake cable this would help to release the connectors?
Though, at least I can cut the locating barb off then you have a new one on the new cable so that is quicker. Swings and roundabouts I guress! Series 1 V8
