Good to meet you yesterday Berty and thanks for supporting the Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team I will be the first to admit that it is a bit tame, unfortunately we are coming up against more and more restrictions due to wildlife, conservation issues and health and safety We also have to balance it against the different types of vehicles we get and the experience of the drivers. At the end of the day though it is a good way to drive the private tracks of The Kielder Forest complex and raise some money for a good cause Cheers Ian

With any activity / event involved with a vehicle there will always be an inherent risk, we try and limit the likelihood through the guides skill, knowledge and experience.
The Kielder Safari is great at what it does ... it gets you off the beaten track, no ramblers, horses or bikers (mtb or trail) giving you grief. If they do they then see the mountain rescue vehicle and your guide will enlighten them
As for Relaxed and Scenic they are a 'bit' more adventurous and the aim is to take shiny and/or new 4x4's off the beaten track; however the risk and the likelihood for the potential for damage increases.
You have to balance the whole experience, ask Ian (Hairy Dan) his D4 has probably seen more green miles than tarmac miles Club N.E.R.D.s

Looking to sign up this winter for the Kielder Safari, hoping the mud and wetter conditions will make it fairly interesting.
Gutted I missed the original post on this thread, I was available on that date. Anyone else who fancies a drive out through the hills then please let me know...

Just a heads up Berty83, we are nearly full for the December event as we have a Jeep club booked in so if you are wanting to come I would book sooner rather than later Cheers Ian

Worth giving Chris Heaton a shout, he's the local DOC rep and they do a lot of things up in the Northumberland Area, he's also a member. I've sent a few the Keilder run way too, everyone always seems to enjoy it
