thanks Very Happy i have been on there and on the sytner website just asking if there are any other websites with used discovery on that you would recommend. I know discoverys hold there price well and the cheapest i have seen a used one is £20,000 which is pritty gd. But my budget is about £18-24,000. The better the car the better, and i would like it in black but that is a minor point.

congrats on picking black!!! Rolling Eyes

the LR warranty recently was voted pretty highly by what-car , best cars will probably be in the dealer network but remember sticker price is a starting point!

Very true that the screen price is only the starting point. I talked the price on mine down from £35k to £32.5k on an 06 TDV6SE and got some extras thrown in to the bargain.

Use the national search on the LRA link posted above to find the cheapest that meets your needs then show that to your nearest dealer with a similar vehicle. You should be able to persuade them to match or better the price Thumbs Up The line I took was "look, your car is £2000 more than these ones I've found at other LR dealers. Sure, they're 100 or so miles away but you wouldn't believe the inconvience I am willing to put myself through to save £2000. We're talking 4 hours there and back, which works out at £500 saved per hour......"

The dealer saw my logic straight away and was more than happy to beat the lowest price I had found by £500. The trick is in finding 2 or 3 cars that meet your list of requirements and go from there.

Any thoughts on what spec you want? 5 seats? 7seats? Cloth? Leather? PTI/Bluetooth? Tow kit? Tints? It's worth getting yourself familiar with the different specs and options so you have a better chance of finding the right car(s). It's also worth bearing in mind that you can add some options later (tints and towkit) but others are only realistically available from the factory (such as PTI, cruise and winter pack).

Welcome aboard; we look forward to helping you in your search Mr. Green

I did this & got no joy with my local dealers. Ended up buying for a dealer I have never been to!
All done over the phone & they delivered it to me! Thumbs Up
Worked for me.

Some salesmen are firmly of the opinion that selling cars gets in the way of sitting there looking nice in a lovely shiny showroom Rolling Eyes I know this because I used to be in charge of a bunch of them when I worked at a Ford and later a Rover and Jeep franchise in the mid 1990s. I did have the benefit of a personal recommendation from another D3er to work with, which helped no end in breaking the ice with the dealer.

Well worth the OP talking to Ryan at Lakeland to see what's about.
