I agree with all others that advise you to take back for full refund. Its not a good entry point into owning and running these lovely motors. You need a good one to start with or you will be in the in no timeBelts, oil pump casing and water pump by Flack

No brainer, get rid. Or agree a full LR healthcheck with the agreement the seller picks up the tab or sorts all points. Worry you could be in for a lot of future headachesJames favourite hobby is writing in the third person.
The OP, new user Stemaw still only has one post to his name.
I quite understand that an experience like this is awful, but I hope we hear from him again.
Good luck Stemaw, please let us know how you get on.

hopefully he's returned it and got his money back - quite apart from everything else its a 57 plate with the added worry of sudden engine death due to the various weakness this age range has if it's not been looked after correctly Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Hi,
I'm still here! Thanks for all the posts - I'm sensing there's a general consensus I should reject the car!
I've clearly been a bit naive. When we decided to buy a Disco I knew it wasn't going to be an easy ride and it would be expensive to maintain. I did however hope to get more than 10 miles out of it before the problems started.
I've been in touch with the dealer and logged the endless list of faults. They've been good and said to bring it back in or to send it to a local LR specialist. So I'll send it to a local independent next week and get a full health check and then choose repair or reject. Problem is we traded-in and we need a car to ferry our 2 small children around.
To be fair, if it weren't for all the warning lights you'd never know there was a problem. It drives absolutely fine. I'm a previous Alfa owner so I know the love/pain that goes with used cars.
I paid £9.5k for the car which I suspect is neither a bargain nor a rip off. It's nearly 10 years old and has done 113k miles so I was never expecting it to be perfect.
I've fixed one warning - topped up the windscreen washer

Probably on the money price wise. Get whoever looks at it to check the oil pump casing. Biggest headache of them all.
Hope you get it sorted and good luckJames favourite hobby is writing in the third person.
If you do return it and get your money back definitely look to get one from this forum. I did. It has been a really great car. The advantage to finding one on here is you can follow the thread on most of the vehicle so know the car before you buy it. I bought mine about 18 months ago and have only had a couple of minor, self fix faults with the help from forum members on here.
Keep us up to speed on developments, I would still say get rid because the longer you wait and have the car in the garage the longer you are without a car to ferry the kids, but the choice is yours

Hi,
The disco went into the independent today and had a diagnosis (screenshots attached).
Apparently it needs a new air compressor, speedo head and fuel pump. They suggested it's around 2.5k worth of work! The independent were great, didn't charge anything and did the diagnostic despite being swamped with work.
Looking at the diagnosis it looks like it needs EGR's too? I read about bypassing these but I was a bit confused whether this was possible on a 2007 model - any suggestions? I know from the service history that its already had replacement EGRs but it was a long time ago (50k miles)
Funnily enough, the engine light has now gone out and it's been fine for the last couple of days. The Check brake Pad warnings have also stopped - I read it can take up to a week after pads are replaced for this to stop so maybe this wasn't an issue (front pads were replaced as part of the MOT just before we collected the vehicle).
It's booked into a LR specialist that the dealer uses next week to have all repairs done - paid by the dealer and a courtesy car provided by the garage.
Since reading an article online, I'm now an 'expert' in the Sale of Goods Act and rejecting a vehicle I believe we need to give the dealer a chance to repair the problems before rejecting. So I've written a stern letter that outlines what needs repairing and set a deadline of 3 days.
Probably being naive here but all the issues sounds like common problems. Whilst very unlucky to have them all at once, if they're sorted and paid for by the dealer, is this thing gonna last another 100k miles?
The saga continues. Once it's done I'll give an honest review of the LR specialists and the dealer involved.
Still love the car
Thanks for all your advice so far.
Steve
