Got this from FFRR forum and assume same will work on D3:

taking the airbag off is as easy as:

switch off car
open bonnet
open windows just in case
close doors
wait 10 minutes
disconnect neg battery terminal
wait 10 minutes (for any residual charge to dissipate)
remove airbag by pushing a 3mm allen key into the small hole on each side of the plastic surround

voila

(do this at your own risk - no responsibility taken - etc.)
