As I said before, ALL makes have issues. Many folk do like their Adrias, and generally with good reason. But, they are clearly Continental and do have some “quirks” that we’re not traditionally used to. And they aren’t all perfect. Last year I used one for reviewing and a photo-shoot (Practical Caravan), and there were build quality issues with it, mainly overhead locker doors. For example, the one over the kitchen (a huge single unit) was so warped that it wouldn’t close properly, and where two met in a corner, neither could be opened because they fouled each other due to warping.
Having said that, bodyshell integrity is usually good - very few leaks. From a personal point of view, the one we’d be interested in is the new Adora Tiber (rear island bed), but it’s a metre longer than our Coachman due to the longer A-frame, so would cause storage issues (we keep the caravan at home).

I got a Bailey 3 years back and apart from a brake drum problem (fixed under warranty and Alko's fault anyway) I've had no problems with it. They seem to be much better quality-wise these days.
Everything else of course is down to whether the interior matches what you want.
The only other thing is that most manufacturers are putting out 8' wide models now to replace the 'normal' 7'6". If we were buying now we'd probably get one at this width. You sacrifice some ability to get at out-of-the way places but it makes an island double bed and suchlike much easier to deal with.

Nigel207, that looks a lovely van  and interesting to hear your views. The layout is the same as our Fleetwood but we have a rear window. It’s funny I like to be able to see straight through the caravan yet it doesn’t worry me when towing horses, I can never understand why people tow with the blinds shut?! Over the years we've had Swift (and Abbey, part of the same Swift group), Lunar, Bailey, and now Elddis, and to be fair, I think they all have issues with build quality. Its like everything is rushed, no care and attention paid, just get them built and out of the door.
Elddis is now part of Erwin Hymer group, but I'm not convinced build quality has improved. I think it a lottery most of the time, if you get a good one then great, otherwise its just loads of shag and hassle.

We have a 1998 Lunar Solar 464 which is bone dry and other than a few niggles which I'm gradually sorting, everything works. It replaced a 1983 retro ABI which a scaffolder managed to drop a scaffolding board straight through the roof when dismantling the scaffolding on a neighbours house.
Looking forward to towing with my D3 which has just replaced a D2 I had for 11 years.

I remember my parents had a 1960’s Elddis Tornado 4 berth. I was about 6 years old and my parents caravanned with us for many years.
Dad used to tow it with a 1965 Jaguar S Type 3.4. I remember long journeys in the back with walnut picnic tables and opening quarter lights on the back doors that were great for flicking sweet wrappers out of !! 😮
The caravan had gas lights. No electrics, hand pump on the water, a 2 burner hob and a grill. It was damp most of the time and the awning was canvas and probably weighed a ton!
We had great fun though and I remember that caravan lasted until the mid 80’s when I first towed it with my 1975 Opel Ascona 1.9. Me and the then girlfriend (now wife of 31 years) took it away for dirty and damp weekends! We’ve stayed with caravans ever since.
It got scrapped when the side came off it driving home from the Lakes. Remember the breakdown guy laughing at the mess!

Towing with the blinds shut is not a good idea at all, as the tensioning springs get weakened. None of the manufacturers recommend it, in fact many state in their handbooks that they shouldn’t be shut when towing.
