My New Aftermarket Warranty

Said before I was going to 'wing it' re warranty due to excessive cost.

But, just taken this after market Warranty out - to start on 1st Feb.
One year warranty, covers everything except normal wear & tear items , - casings, fluids, brakes, tyres etc etc.
I got Main Dealer repair, Car Hire, Hotel - all for £560 -paid in 12 monthly installments.
BUT, They only pay for a percentage of the parts!!
ie. up to 60k they pay 100%, 70k = 90%, 80k = 80%, 90k = 70%, 100k = 60%, over 100k = 50%
They pay all Labour at 100%.

Got my cooling off period - so what do you think?
Is it worth it?

Warranty Direct cover wear and tear. Most people love them. They were a PITA when it came to my D2. I think unless it's a warranty designed for a LR that mentions specifics, a generalist policy that covers everything from Vectras to 4x4s isn't worth it. IMHO Smile

Labour at any main dealer rate OR the warranty company's approved maximum hourly rate? I've seen this a lot in the past, where the warranty company will pay all labour costs, at a maximum of £40 an hour or similar. Check, check and check again......
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Warranty direct have an option for main dealer or franchise - which affects the premium.

Mine is Warranty Direct also.
You get to choose between their network of dealers or main dealers.
Main dealers cost more, but it's the option i've gone for.

...and was it extra care or major care policy?

There's a big difference:

"covers everything except normal wear" - I'm not sure that's the case....

So, they only pay 50% of the parts above 100K. I don't know what the average split on a bill is between labour/parts - maybe it's impossible to say...

I'm guessing you've got the major cover - not the total cover (given your mileage). On the major care - there's a lot of stuff missing that would be on the total care... worth comparing the two - most importantly, I guess this is missing on yours is the 4wd, diff stuff, leaks, self leveling suspension...

My experience with Warranty Direct indicates that if a covered part is physically broken (eg head gasket), then no dispute, if for example a clutch in an auto box has broken up leading to oil contamination and a full box rebuild being required then be prepared for an argument....
 Cheers

Mine is Secure Cover which 'provides addittional cover to the Major Care policy'

it's got everything you listed plus a few more items.

but there is a section which states that 'any item not specifically mentioned is not covered'
So, what items specific to the D3, that requires crucial cover that's not listed - that I should check out with them?
