NEED SOMEONE TO WEIGH OFF THEIR D3 COMMERCIAL |
|
Ok guys, given the recent update to the new towing legislation and the definition of a DPV (Dual Purpose Vehicle) being exempt from an O-Licence, we need a few guinea pigs to best understand where the current D3 Commercial might fit.
What we're hoping for is some kind souls to have thier vehicle weighed at their nearest VOSA Approved Public weighbridge.
This needs to be the "unladened" weight ie with 90% fuel (the 75kg for the driver can be then added to the calcualtions after) and nowt else.
IDEALLY we're looking for
a) A STANDARD D3 COMMERCIAL WITH SPARE WHEEL FITTED AND WITHOUT SPARE WHEEL
b) A STANDARD D3 COMMERCIAL WITH NON-APPROVED REAR SEATS AGAIN WITH AND WITHOUT SPARE WHEEL
c) A STANDARD D3 COMMERCIAL WITH APRROVED AFTERMARKET REAR SEATS YET AGAIN WITH AND WITHOUT SPARE WHEEL AND
Can anyone assist in this experiement to better understand what might be poss under the new legislation

You could just take the stated weight i.e. the kerb weight of an XS Commercial is 2593kg (manual) 2602kg (Auto)........for the spare minus off \plus 34kg .... anything in addition like seats will obviously weigh more 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

recon that's not the correct weight, a D4 GS/XS/HSE weighs in at 2583kg so I recon that's the kerb weight of a D3 passenger vehicle their hence the wish for someone to ACTUALLY stick one on their local weighbridge
I'm away tomorrow but going to get my MY06 TDV6 5 seater on the my local bridge.

But ...if you don't want to believe it ..then why don't you just ask those with a Commercial D3 or 4 to check their plated weight displayed on the vehicle as this is what VOSA or the Bill will go by 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Well then surely they will have to take the manufacturers EEC kerb weight statement 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

another thing I am trying to demonstrate is that what the manufacturer might say in his/her brochure does not always fully translate in to reality hence the need to have some increased limit or descretion when it comes to the 2040kg rule on DPV.
A long way to go on getting the C&U Regs increased from 2040kg to 2500kg but this is a relevant exercise in the bigger picture given that this bit of the regs has not been revised for over 25 years

Being a Micro business, margins are very small, the cost of employing a CPC holder is costed at around £200-£250 per month (of which the goverment has already acknowledged that there are not enough CPC holders likely to meet demand), plus another £120-£150per month for "safety checks" over and above routine servicing for the LR and trailer and around another £150-£180 per month for an "Operators Centre" all to carry one vehicle.
But of course if I use a Defender 90/110 station wagon with little safety features the law says I'm legal
Another option is to re-install the light bar on my D3 and stick a winch on the front and register it with DVLA as a "recovery vehicle" then I'll not need an O-Licence at all

Ahh that makes sence when you add it all up, I was unsure what you did so didnt know your situation or requirements etc. im assuming you do need hire and reward then for your job ?
Im lucky really as mine can be a restricted licence as I only move my own stuff etc.
