Advice needed - Engine not turning
I've attempted to start my D3 this morning - it's been getting progressively slower to start over the last few weeks.
The battery (< a year old) is fully charged (I put it on the charger a day ago) but when I turn the key the starter doesn't turn - I just get a 'click'.
I'm guessing that either:
1. A fuse / relay has blown
2. The starter solenoid is blown
3. The starter is completely gone
If it's 1, does anyone have any suggestions which fuse or relay I should check?
If it's 2, can the solenoid be repaired or is it a new starter complete?
Thanks in advance for any help.I see no ships........
Had the same issue on my previous D3 - slower and slower to start then wouldn't at all - was 3 (starter fooked), fixed under warranty in my caseThe End
You can get reconditioned starters that are as good as new, but you need to make sure that's the problem one quick check is turn all the lights on and see what happens when you try to start the car do the lights dim, You say the battery is only 1 year old but it still could that get a drop test done on the battery.

Thanks for the replies gents
I called the RAC out - he did a quick load test on the battery and a check of the relays etc but he feels it is the starter.
So I'm now waiting for a low loader to take it to the local (expensive) stealers.....
I did think of doing it myself but I've read how awkward (as in near impossible) to take the starter out without a lift.
This'll put a hole in my New Year ale money - look like I'll be selling the wife I see no ships........
