Hi Guys
Yesterday we did a trip to Hennops, and it was wet and very slippery.
Cars that we saw in action:
2 x D3
1 x Classic 3.5 RR
2 x 90 Defenders (TDI & 2.8) - not Puma's
3 x Nissan Patrols
We (D3's)  off, we battled, we were  . We battled with the smallest pacthes of mud, but in all honesty we (2 x D3's) were the only 2 with very well worn "road tyres" and all the others had BFG's.
My point, I have a slightly better Pirelli Scorpions on and my mate on his V8 very illegal Toyo's (or something). I did marginally better. Tyres make a huge difference, please do not have much expectation of the Wranglers, Pirellis etc in mud  2007 TDV6 SE auto (ex Write off)

Couldn't agree more . Was in Swaziland this weekend for a rally and even on BFG AT's I really battled. SO did all other makes though . Bottom line is you can't expext to move a 3 ton car on no grip from rubber. Actually I tried to walk up the one slope where we were battling and promptly slipped and fell on my

I dunno what the answer is. I even got stuck in mud with my STT's on.
Must be driver error

You want to play in the mud, fit Mts, as Baben say's, you can still get stuck
with all the D3 tecno assists. Weight is a big factor to keep in mind when
momentum is required to get up a tricky incline, but to me the most
important issue is the type of mud I want to get through. This is where
you look at your D3's footwear, check out the conditions, make the right
decision to play another day.
Hennops on road tires when it's wet

Hi I also went to hennops I think just in front of you guys. I did all the obstacles with alot of playing around with the settings etc i saw the my 17' rims gave my slightly more traction but still not as much as i would have liked to have. fitting new cooper SST's soon hope it will make a difference. I will post some pics and vids tonight.
PS. I saw a Jeep with road tyres battling alot more than I did with the Disco.

Yes we were the 2 D3's behind you. Were you the one trying to help the "Loser" in his bakkie up the hills?
We were in the V8 and TDV6.
You had better traction on the 17's than our 18's. 2007 TDV6 SE auto (ex Write off)

Yup It was me, the problem with them was they want to make everything difficult for them selves by disengaging diflock and stuff up the obstacle. anyway I will post a vid of my attempt. tonight

Looks like you only needed a little bit more momentum.
Baben/Deon should post the video clips taken last year at the same section of the trail while conditions were dry.

I have been through there when dry with my previous discovery and the same disco 3 as on the video. But it been realy realy super slipery with the red mud and the rocks 2012 Discovery 4 SDV6 SE 50mm Suspension Lift, Front Runner RR, Drawers, Tuffstuff Underbody Armour.
