Middle row leather seat stitch failure

Hi, has anyone ever had the stitching around the edge of the leather fail on a middle row seat? I noticed this a little while ago, but it's got progressively worse and that side doesn't really get used. It's a pain as trying to find a single side seat on its own seems to be near on impossible. I don't know if this could be repaired??

I would be going to see a decent auto apholstery shop pretty quick, they may be able to repair that before it spreads.
 King of the typo.

MY11 D4 5.0 V8, Bournville, lots of goodies!

Now departed: '85 RR Vogue, '94 D1, '95 D1, '70 SIIA, '97 D1, '04 D2a. All V8, except for the SIIA - but that drank as much petrol anyway!

Yes I did consider that. The only other option is to buy a complete set of middle row seats and sell mine. Bit extreme though!

also - its only the seat face that is leather, the sides are a PVC material that looks like leather, but isnt.

Each individual seat cover is available from LR, try Dan at Duckworths for a price if you can't get it repaired Thumbs Up

That's very interesting to know. I guess it's less than 2 years since D4 ceased production, so parts like this should still be on shelves. I shall enquire and keep you posted!

Wow, now those prices I was not expecting. I wonder if these are the softer leather types, as my car is an HSE.

Thank you all for your useful inputs, I proceeded to purchase a new seat cover which turned up this week.

However, upon carefully attempting to remove the old cover, it suddenly brought back memories of when I tried to do this on a D2 ES about 8 years ago. There are small metal clips/rings that pull the covering tight to the foam padding. I could see no possible way to remove these, even pulling the foam out of the metal seat frame didn't reveal anything helpful. So the conclusion is, I backed away and put the cover back on, which I might add was a close call on whether it would or not, so I thank whoever was smiling down on me at that point!

Perhaps I could find a local interior specialist (if they exist), who might be able to help. I did consider just tearing the cover away, then using something like spray adhesive to bond the new cover to the foam. But I decided against it.

The ring are hog rings and require a specific tool to remove and replace.
Local upholsterer would probably charge you modestly to remove old cover and restitch and refit. If you can rewrap your new cover might be best to return it.

As above, an upholsterer would be able to quickly swap over the covers for you Thumbs Up
