Mega Flush - Scotland

Hey guys,

As of lately I have noticed a faint whine in the transmission when slowing down. It's more noticable when you lift off and let the rpm drop below 1500 rpm. It has got lounder in the last few weeks I'm sure but its still not very loud at this time. When I first drive it it is not noticable at all, but only once its up to temp after an hour drive to work.

Not really sure what to think, its a 56 plate HSE with a full service history. With 61k on the clock, and it has never been off road as far as I'm aware and has been well looked after. Surely its not the transfer/gearbox away to give up yet!!??

I was thinking of giving a transmission mega flush a try. Anyone heard of this issues before and know of a place in Scotland that do a mega flush near Aberdeen.

Thanks in advance

Paul

Knee-jerk reaction would be to check the diffs - typical when on 'lift-off' - just a little surprised that sounds increase when going more slowly.

Yup....dont want to unduly worry you,but thats the noise I heard and it turned out to be the front diff.....plenty of other possibilities though, just tick them off one-by-one

Ah ok thanks, yeah its when slowing down. It also heard under very light accelaration. Any ideas to improve this? Change the diff oil?

Some days if i'm not listening for it you cant hear it.....not sure what to do as it's really not bad....but if it can be caught sooner rather than later.

Cheers Guys.

IF IT IS THE DIFF, it means a 'fix' sooner rather than later. In the 'old' days one could use all sorts of things as a "cure" but these days, designs are so much closer to the limit and powers/torque throughputs are so much higher, that as soon as wear sets in - no cure but reco' / renew.
