Cheers,
Matt.
Welcome to the site. Present vehicles are better. The first builds had problems which in the mian were electronic.
Mine is a first build, now with 31000 miles. I had 3 early faults, which were rectified by the dealer.
No serious issues since 8500 miles.
I am not contemplating selling or anything other than thoroughly enjoying a marvellous vehicle.

Andy4467 wrote:If "so why are you thinking of getting rid of it then?" is aimed at me, then I may not have explained myself properly:
Whilst enjoying myself in my brand new D3 I noticed there were other cars on the road - some of these cars happened to be large 4x4's in a similar vehicle category to the Disco, cars which I had preciously considered. My train of thought then went through the process of have I chosen the right vehicle to which my answer is yes!
Only trying to help!
I assumed it was aimed at BN. 2004 Discovery 3 - gone
2006 Discovery 3 - gone
2008 Discovery 3 GS - gone
2011 Freelander LE Special Edition - gone
2007 Discovery 3 XS - gone
2012 Discovery 4 GS - gone

I thought so too (naturally too polite to point this out first!) Well someone had to, otherwise BN might not realise..... it's the cold weather, you know what it does to the elderly

Had ours since Sept and I suggested to my wife, the main driver, that we get rid as it uses too much fuel (compared to Scenic, Multipla, Picasso etc). The pain has just about subsided
Thing is I love it too and hardly ever touch my own car which I could not find today as it has been 2 weeks since I last used it and I couldn't remember where I had parked it.
Basically I read this site and still bought the car and the only issue in 2000 odd miles has been a misplaced A/C drain tube resulting in a wet carpet, which was dealt with swiftly.
Go on, you know you want to

In twenty years time we'll look back and think Disco 3 ah, it had character just like we do with MGBs and leaky Bonervilles.
We could all buy Toyota somethings v reliable but we'd have nowt to winge about.

…. But we'll all be driving Disco 7's, and moaning about the levitation suspension collapsing, the hydrogen fuel cells not returning more than 200 miles per cup of water, and the interplanetary navigation not knowing its Mars from its Saturn!

I sure hope the Discovery 3 does not go as rusty as my MGB is after 35 years

Fantastic.
Can't wait to get mine. Hopefully just before Xmas. Was cheeky tonight and borrowed one from another dealer. Ha, ha the look on the X5 drivers face when I hit the M1 and disappeared at 70 plus? Priceless.
Bring it on. Must get used to D3 though, its better than Disco1.
