How many of you....

...are thinking of rejecting/selling your D3's? Prompted by BN's comments - I am thinking of getting a D3, but am worried by all the reliability talk on this forum.

Cheers,

Matt.

Welcome to the site. Present vehicles are better. The first builds had problems which in the mian were electronic.

Problems- compressor - (replaced within 24 hrs); stereo crashing (software upgrade)

Not regretted it for one moment.

I was also worried after reading this forum and I had allready placed an order.
However, I can safely say that there is no other car that can offer the same versatility as the D3. I have even found myself wondering what I would replace it with if I had too: an X5? - not enough seats, An XC90? - nearly does it, except its a Volvo and I'm still in my 30's. I would honestly replace it with another D3, on road presence, safety, ability in all conditions, comfortable what else is there to say.
My biggest worry is some t**t damaging it when parked up in a car park.
Never mind the PDC being inaccurate - I'll get the dealer to sort it on my next visit. This car is great.

My appologies to Volvo owners in their 30's.

I recently challenged my local BMW and Mercedes dealers to a challenge, because I was fed up with press comparisons with the Land Rover range. There is no equivalent to any of the LR range apart from the Freelander, which is a car.

The challenge was to go to a local 4x4 off road centre and the other cars a Merc ML and BMW X5 were to follow me around the course on standard issue road tyres. Both declined immediately.

The Discovery 3 is not a people carrier alone, it is a serious off road vehicle that can tow, carry and accommodate a lot, try that in either of the other makes, so please will the press stop comparing the D3, it is in a league of its own.

Finally, when off roading the D3 has a nice little touch, the sills are covered by the doors and after a muddy session, you can get in and out with no mud on your legs, try that in any other car Wink

Matff,
I have just rejected my second one and now the dealer principal ( for I am not worthy) has proposed a meeting to settle all my issues, I shudder to think what will be offered. The guy is as sharp as a beach ball!
After some advice on this site I will change my dealership and go for third time lucky.

31,000K miles and still loving it.

Only had one issue in the first two weeks and this was fixed in a hour (once they had worked out what it was as LR had no idea).

Since then... no problems at all apart from the odd niggle.

If "so why are you thinking of getting rid of it then?" is aimed at me, then I may not have explained myself properly:
Whilst enjoying myself in my brand new D3 I noticed there were other cars on the road - some of these cars happened to be large 4x4's in a similar vehicle category to the Disco, cars which I had preciously considered. My train of thought then went through the process of have I chosen the right vehicle to which my answer is yes!

Only trying to help!

Can't think of any that even come close to the D3!
