Likely brake switch fault? SORTED!

Yesterday the landie didn't feel as planted as usual, bit all over the place. I stopped on the way home and up came special systems off, transmission fault ebp fault and F on the display.

Today it's done it again while driving, with limited gears etc, I've changed the brake light bulbs, but couldn't get to a LR parts place in time to grab a brake light switch......

Fault code is u0122 lost comms with vehicle dynamics module, u0132 lost comms with ride level cont module

Likely brake light switch or trip to dealers?

Thanks for your help Thumbs Up

United Kingdom 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 S Manual Buckingham BlueDiscovery 3

If its manual try this!
1) Find a long straight and quiet section of road.
2) Select LOW Ratio.
3) Reverse for about 200 yards or until you get the beep and the R on the dash gear number indicator. And then a tiny bit more for good luck. Stop, then...
4) Go forwards in 1st until number appears. Clutch pedal must be fully raised each time.
5) Then up through the Gears waiting for each of the numbers to appear. Do not skip any gears!
6) Stop at 6th, back into neutral, switch off engine.
7) After a brief rest, I took a couple of minutes just to make sure all the bad ju ju was gone and to have a quick wee as it was just all too exciting.
Restart and select High Ratio and you're on your way..

If ita Auto try this one

On a long straight quiet stretch of road

Turning off ignition
Wait until (P) on dash extinguishes.
Restart ignition , select low box
Engage reverse
Reverse whilst also keeping an eye on gear indicator
When R appears ..... stop
Engage First .... drive until 1 appears
Engage Second ..... drive until 2 appears
Repeat up through 3,4,5 until 6 th & 6 appears
Stop... Neutral..... Ignition off ..... wait until (P) extinguishes
Ignition on
Change back to High Box
Should be ok now

Hope all goes well. Thumbs Up

Sounds like you are getting the same error messages as me, and I'm going to replace my switch as soon as I can get to the dealers, as that's what I suspect. Ill keep you posted

Changed the switch, and one brake light bulb as I couldn't get the lamp guard off the other and touch wood all seems okay. I'm convinced it was the switch on mine, as I tested the brake lights with the engine off and then all the usual faults kicked off.

Good luck with yours!

Thanks for replies chaps, I cleaned out the brake switch as the dealers weren't open over christmas. No better sadly, today alternator light came on and then unable to restart, so recovered to dealers, likely alternator fault I think!

All sorted, main cable down to alternator/ starter had been arcing, giving voltage probs. it eventually damaged the alternator,

The cable and alternator have been changed and cars running great, however I'm 700notes worse off! Sad

Glad to get car back tho !
