Lights
I have an SE fitted with automatic lights; however I have notice that there is no indication whether the lights are on or off! Tonight I tried a few of the settings and it shows when the rear fog lights are on, but the front ones do not work! Should I have some indication when the lights are on in the 'speedo' area? Has anyone else had this problem?2010/60 Discovery 4 XS Zermatt Silver - Privacy Glass, Timed Climate (with remote), Voice, 4x4 screen, Bong on lock/un-lock (Pete BellAutos)

I think it was on 08MY onwards that have the headlights on warning light if you have auto headlights.
Could be wrong.

The lights on indicator is on 07 models onwards. Prior to that it is not there. The best way is to get the Land Rover driving light kit, because the switch to select the lights has a tell tale led on it. LED on = headlamps on

No "lights on indicator" on a 06 model im afraid ( has it on later models)
When in auto you should not be able to select either front or rear fog lights.
Switch it to the main headlight switch (not auto) , then pull out once for front fogs , and twice for front and rear ..
You will also have a yellow light and a green light for the front and rear fogs ( sorry cant remember which is which) on your dash.G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

I think the lights on warning for when auto is selected on the headlight switch was later on Gareth... but this is getting far too geeky now

I mean the spot lamps. I have a switch and LED to the left of the binnacle, which lights up when the headlamps are on.

Gareth, that photo is odd. Looks like the main beams are on but not the dips. Surely the dips stay on when mains are on
Yes, 08MY (& 07?) have a green 'lights on' indicator in the dash - but I still can't see it, cos it's usually obscured by the steering wheel Long succession of Disco's since 2001...

I was just flashing the lights for the camera! When you pull the stick to flash the lights, the xenons don't strike up.

If you're not close enough to the boot of a BMW/Subaru/RRS* (delete as required) to see the reflection . Hold your hand up by the rear view mirror to see if the little "mood light" LED is on. It only comes on with the lights. What if the "Hokey Cokey" really is what it's all about?

I use a face mirror tied firmly to a long piece of bamboo ..just keep it on the back seat then when you are unsure or concerned that your lights are on you just hold it out of the window at arms length..point to the front of the motor ...and bingo !
I used to send Mrs DG out onto the bonnet but came up with the bamboo and mirror trick after the accident 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
