Lightforce vs. KC Hilites ....or....

Anyone got any experience of the Lightforce driving lamps?
Initially I was looking at a pair of 240 HID's - then found out the price £599 each Shocked Shocked
The second option was a pair of KC 660's, the mounting would be a pain, but not impossible, price is about £750 a pair with an output of 600 KCandela...

Then I found the Lightforce 240 Blitz with an output of 730 KCandela Very Happy Very Happy at £222

Decisions, decisions... Rolling Eyes

Currently conspiring with a workmate on how I can get them without the lack of finances being evident.... guess hobbling round like i've been kicked in the b@lls for a week would be a giveaway eh? Rolling Eyes

The Lightforces are the preferred option over here, particularly in comps. They're waterproof amd come with lifetime guarantees.

They're also really strong. I hit a kangaroo in the Suby (which has a set of Lightlforce 170's). The front was mashed (AUS$6,000 damage). The only thing that was Ok on the front were the lights. One of the covers had popped off, so I picked it up of the road from amongst the shrapnel and put it back on.

240 is a big diameter though!

Thanks for that! Thumbs Up
yer, 240 is big, somehow I don't think it'll impact too much on the D3's front end aerodynamics though Wink
The 170's are apparently 350 KCandela with a range (to 1 Lux) of approximately 650 metres, whereas the 240 Blitz / XGT's have a range of 900 Metres - the HID's are claimed to illuminate up to 1400 Metres Shocked Shocked

Rumour has it that LRE want Lightforce lights as they don’t rate the Warn lights.
In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

TBH, i'm not suprised, I think they only went for the Warn lights as they were already in a deal with them for the winches, IMHO the warn lights don't look good and I would have expected a better output pattern Rolling Eyes
Just don't get me started on the standard of the wiring Evil or Very Mad

Warn lights as standard are not worth the money (if you were to buy them new) better lamps do improve them a lot. Yep, wiring is a bit pants, I'm confident with mine that the wiring is perfect bar the last 6" to each lamp Wink

I've used lightforce lamps for lamping and they are the dogs. Don't know what they are like on a car though!
