LiFePO4 battery installation |
|
Hi all
Sorry as this is probably in the wrong section, so please move as you see fit.
But I am not sure which category it should be in….
I want to fit a 100ah LiFePO4 battery into my 2005 D3, I can fit it into the spare/aux battery compartment under the bonnet, but I suspect it will get too hot in this compartment, so I am looking for alternatives.
A few years ago I read of an article that someone fitted a LiFePO4 in the rear ?passanger? side compartment, I think where the rear air conditioning unit is located? However I have been unable to locate the post. I think this is probably the best way forward for me.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?? Or have any advice on installing these cells.
Have a great weekend

Hi, I was going to fit the same in the rear behind the side panel and have seen videos covering it. Basically they cut the panel away and then once installed use carpeted ply to cover it over having added sockets to it. I ended up installing the Victron dc-dc charger there then running cables to the battery in a battery box. Thought that would give me some portability if required.
