Lanes in the West Yorkshire/Haworth area or close by? |
|
Morning all,
Just wanting to pop out for a little drive, wondered if there were any fairly easy routes around? First time at any actual off roading and will have the kids with me so nothing too technical!
Cheers

Well, after a little scouring and not wanting to commit to anything too technical, I needed to get to Ilkley so..

Is actually almost a shortcut. Wasn't sure if it was open to 4x4's but trail wise wasn't clear, spent 5 min sat thinking/reading and then a silver discovery 3 rolls down it.
Quite short but some good views.

Hi FE
My Dad reckons he went over there in a Morris Travellor with 8 people on board sometime in the mid 1960s!
Think the road must have been in better condition then?! Probably been drinking heavily too.
Richard.

1:25,000 map defines as a road, track, fenced or unfenced, likely to be less than 4m wide as for the info on trailwise seems to be an old route that has become extinguished prob lack of use. It also appears to go around a foot path.
Bet it has broken tarmac with grass growing up the centre maybe

Yeah, pretty much a ruined and neglected road.
Wouldn't try it in a car though! Seems someone has half buried kerbs across the track at regular intervals, meaning some quite substantial lumps. Enough to scrap slightly while at normal height.
The kids loved it though, need to get a more serious lane lined up.

Can't believe I missed that when searching online.
Will need to check to see if I'm working, if not then I'll be all over it!
