Every time I have asked about covering a remap the next question has been 'how much increase in horsepower?'
Try telling them its for towing and they want to know if there is a tow bar fitted-no. Er what now?
Its no good telling someone how much you pay for cover as no two quotes are the same even before postcodes are taken into consideration.

Have they said yes to a remap isz? If so what BHP uplift over standard? No problem with tow hook, have one that can be fitted or carried inside.

I told them I had an engine ECU improvement that gave better torque for towing and improved efficiency - I had to name the co. that provided it, and there was no additional charge.
depends on how you describe it.
say its a remap to increase BHP and acceleration etc and they will view it differently.
also, be sure to mention if you blank off the EGRs - some cheaper insurances Co's have cancelled cover once EGRs have been blankedDuncan

Following Disco Duncs accident I changed to LR issurance and got a very very competative quote, they are also happy with LR assesories and off roading
Likewise i tried LRI when Admiral was over £600 renewal, got it down to £438 with LRI,i think the included mods/accesories are if OEM LR,and off road was providing there was no competition involved.
I stand to be corrected.

Just phoned LRIns and it was a flat no to a "remap to improve towing and economy". They didn't even ask if it increased mpg or top speed. Thought about the "modified ECU" description but that's not an accurate description of the mod, it's a remap. Last thing I'd want in the event of a claim was haggling over what "modified ECU" meant and risk of claim being rejected and/or policy invalid.
through a broker who is as sharp as a razor...
they write to me about a month before the renewal date & quote the prices....inviting me to improve on these ...I have never got below thier lowest quote.
I have four named drivers on my policy & they were realistic when I first added my youngest daughter
I have checked they dont cover re-maps...which doesnt really bother me
but do allow me to use winter tyres
They were also very competitive when I recently had to insure my Jag (group forty something).....from a different company ut with all the whistles & bells for a soft top sports car.
I have never compared the quotes from existing with LandRover but will next time its due....BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

I just spoke to LRins and they were happy with a re map - seems odd that they are so inconsistent. Their quote was good although did not include breakdown cover (£583)

they probably knew that a remap would double the speed that DSL drove at Duncan

Oi!! I don't drive at 30mph without it!!
Might try them again though might just be an academic point as NFU premium has just dropped £170 and only £10 more than the LRIns online quote, without remap.
Just swapped to landrover insurance today, basically because the company with would not cover me for any offroading. Very competitive quote for a much better policy. Phone them though, rather than use their online quote system, they will negotiate.
