Sun cream - for Mrs Gabbo and any offspring of course!
With regards to the reverse polarity, as well as the tester, you might find it worthwhile making up a short lead with the live and neutral reversed, so that if you do come across it, it's simply a small job of inserting the lead. Of the five sites we stayed on recently, only one had reversed polarity, but the same site can have variances from pitch to pitch. Same with the two pin connector.
I see you're in Nottingham. You're quite welcome to borrow my leads if you want.

depends where he's crossing to.
We do Caen down to the Vendee coast every summer, and the motorway all the way down to Nantes is toll free. Nantes ring road can be a pain, especially for the junction heading for Bordaux (La Rochelle), and this bit is a Toll road.
I too have two mains adapter leads made up, one straght through and one with live/neutral reversed - its just easier than messing around.

Just landed in Kent after two weeks on the il de re near La Rochelle. It's 11 euros with the caravan for the toll road down to La Rochelle after Nantes. It's also now 23 euros across the bridge over to the il de re. It goes up for the peak season. If you are travelling through Rouen then there is a bridge out and a diversion though the town centre. If I was you I would head to Caen via le harve from Calais. It's 37 euros for tolls. stop off on the way down the other side of Caen it's a long drive and you will be knackered without a break

Good luck gabbo it's a long drive even though the roads are good. if you get caught in the French mass migration to the coast then it will be a awfully long journey. It took my brother 14 hours a couple of years to get to Limoges in August. Got caught in the French holiday traffic.
Keep in mind to fuel up at supermarkets instead of the "peage". It will save you a lot of money.
Lunch where the French are lunching, you'll eat better than at the tourist's restaurants.
And......be patient! Everything takes time in France.
Be careful when you reach the toll places. Some gates have max height and the French are not amused when you need to change gates.
And ......don't trust your satnav:-) Use a good map.
Above all: enjoy everything France offers you!Discovery 3 HSE
