Just two things...

All, thanks for having me! Recently purchased a 2012 Disco 4 XS with 124K on the clock.

Seems all in good condition and drives nice, i recently plugged it into my brothers fault reader (not IIDtool) and found that there was a massive list of errors etc, cleared them all and done a drive cycle. In that time I have purchased an IID tool and have found that only 3 faults have resurfaced. 2 are pretty simple - the wing mirrors (heated) have gone open circuit, so i've ordered two of those.

The next fault is the FBH is locked out. Reset it. Primed it via the tool, and got a lovely smell of fuel so assume thats working ok. I run the second test on the IID tool and it all works fine and finishes the test with a Success message. The exhaust pipe in the passenger wheel arch is warm, but not hot. Timed climate is all setup but so far this week has not turned on and everytime i break out the tool it reports two errors with it:

B1D31-94 Flame detected prior to normal operation and then B1D34-68 Heater in lock out mode.

However using the IID tool as i stated above, the unit appears to pass all tests on the Auxillary Heater with Success. So is the tool not good enough to detect the issue or is there something i'm missing.

Final point, is in the mornings, the car is face down Censored up. Both the front suspensions are low and the back is normal, would i be on the right path in thinking that its the valve block at the front that would be the usual suspect? Once the engine is on, the front rises quickly and there are no issues/alarms etc. No faults on the IID tool readout regarding suspension. There is no detectable height loss when its parked up at whilst im at work, its literally just over night. Thoughts?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Sounds like you have a leak on the front somewhere, you need to check all the pipes and the valve block at the front.

As for the FBH, you need to buy one of these below and a laptop to put the software on it to test out fully the FBH.

Flack thanks for the quick response - i have now purchased a Webasto kit to directly attach to the FBH to help with the diagnosis.

As for the leak can anyone tell me whether there are non-return valves in line at all or built into the valve block. i.e. if the system is airtight upto the front valve block down stream of it, any loss from either side will affect both front suspension bags? or is it a leak on the right front will not impact the left front as the two systems are not linked?

Thanks

If you pull fuse 26 when you park up and find only one corner is down in the morning, then you have a leak on that air bag or its pipework.
If you find both corners are down, chances are its the front valve block.
Keep in mind that with fuse 26 in place and one corner bag leaking.. the car will 'Wake Up' during the night and attempt to level the front suspension by letting air out of the highest corner.
That is why you need to pull fuse 26 to test...

The IID is crap for FBH testing. It will show operation successful even if the FBH fails (which actually makes sense) but may or may not show error code that should appear as a result of that failure.

Flack knows best as always.

I had fuel leak with mine. Mice had eaten though my pipes just below the heater itself; they love diesel! The smell was pretty obvious. They had also eaten around the top of my fuel tank.

That many? Whistle Whistle

Mind you ISTR when Dark Bluie’s engine started shredding itself there were no codes apart from the usual suspects. Codes are meaningless when the big spiny V shaped thing is making a lot of very unusual noises. Thumbs Up

Right - so pulled the fuse as suggested. This morning, both the front wheels were as they were the morning before i.e. both very low. So by that logic we have ruled out the ECU trying to adjust for a leaking bag. Would this then point me to the front valve block? As i mentioned earlier are people aware of any non return valves either in the block or elsewhere? as knowing this info would certainly help with the troubleshooting.

Cheers
