Looking for some advice for the D4 which i collect in 10 days - should I have it fitted with mud flaps, side bar or step, and door protector strips? Rear step protector? Stainless sill protectors? Which are a waste of time and which are good to have? It's in Zermatt Silver by the way. Any other suggested and useful accessories?
I'm also having a tow bar fitted - the removable type.

mud flaps, - depends how often you will go off road as they are not very hard wearing in the rough stuff
side bar or step - depends how often you will go off road as steps can limit where you can go
door protector strips? personal choice, can be useful at the supermarket if you don't have steps
Rear step protector?
Stainless sill protectors? well worth it

My one has flaps but only as it had that on it (bought a showroom model).
Was also thinking about steps/bars...... hmm.

Side rubbing strips with bright inserts £217 (new accessory for D4)
Side steps £735 (not having these)

It's arrived!
My new D4 arrived this weekend! I am new to the world of Discoverys, so I am getting used to driving a much bigger vehicle.
The car is very well kitted out, and it will take a good while to read up all and use all of the features. I have managed to get the iPod connected and working, the navigation working and even the DAB radio and voice commands. The only thing I have not managed to do is to get the nav screen to show North Up (my preferred view).
The engine pulls very well, although I am being cautious with less than 100 miles on the clock!
Quality wise, if my Mercedes E-Class was a "9" this is a "7" for fit, finishes and overall feel. But of course the Discovery is much more versatile.

I see you're in Northants, I'm in Stony Stratford so possibly not too far from you. Can I ask which dealer you used ?
Bit late to suggest that now Ad Sometimes it does make sense to pay full whack and OTT fitting costs, accessories fitted at the time of purchase come with the same 3yr warranty as the vehicle, only sometimes though....
