Hi Robbie,
last week I had read your Nautilus how-to and was awed. Hope you don't mind me saying that your soldering method seemed a bit less awe-inspiring
Does it really work? I always thought the solder is intended to keep the stuff in place, not to conduct the electricity in the first place...

I've got a couple of 75 amp Anderson connectors but the original ones fitted to the Traxide system are white, smaller and have a 'press to release' clip fitting.
I know I could replace all the connectors with the 75 amp jobs but I was hoping to make life easy and only make up a single extra 'jumper' cable...
Any suggestions as to where I can source one - I've trawled the net without joy.I see no ships........

I never said I was perfect and I would rather crimp than solder on any given task but the technique is not unknown. It is one of the methods used to terminate battery cables and has been used for many years.

mine had the anderson 75 amp power poles already on the traxide unitG4 Gone ...but not forgotten

This the connector I have fitted (it's an SC40 kit).
Any ideas as to where to source them?
(apologies for the poor qualtiy but it's bl dy freezing out there!)I see no ships........

What size battery cable would be recommended to match the Traxide kit? 35mm?

Hi SpiderBaby and you have had that Traxide SC40 for quite a few years.
Those white plugs have the large type automotive terminals in them, rated at around 80 amps but they are not designed be constantly unplugged and plugged.
The Traxide SC80-LR is supplied with 75 amp Anderson Power Poles but while these have a constant current rating of 75 amps, they will safely tolerate 200+ amps for very shot time periods, making them perfect for jump starting operations.

Hi Ade and all you need for the occasional jump start is 6B&S ( 13mm2 ) or 16mm2. These cable sizes are rated at well over 200 amps while being used as starter motor cable.
If you were setting up to operate a which, using both batteries then 25mm2 would be recommended.2008 TDV8 RR Lux + 2009 D4 2.7
