England 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Auto Java BlackDiscovery 3

Just noticed this thread - my experience.

Bought d3 last December with 10 months left of the lr select warranty.. D3 had done 107k miles.
In March this year had problem with auto gearbox, diagnosed as requiring replacement Big Cry landrover warranty engineer inspected and confirmed that a replacement would be required. Replacent gearbox and labour to fit £4,750.00 Shocked Fortunately select warranty covered £3500.00 with £500.00 px on faulty box leaving me to cough-up £750.00 Embarassed It could have been devastating without the select warranty. It has run out at the end of September but can't renew as the vehicle has done more than 100k miles...looking at options now.

ps At the time i was desperate to get on the D3 ladder and this came at the right price (all i could afford) but i wouldn't have bought this vehicle without the warranty.

Hi Ian ,

Im currently having problems with my auto box and have covered the same mileage as yours.

What problems were you having with yours ?

Im getting a judder from mine between 35 - 40 mph in 3rd but as yet the dealers can't find Big Cry

My select warranty has now ran out but they are willing to extend it until the fault can be found.

it could need a double gearbox flush. I had mine done under original warranty :
