iPhone 3g and 3GS with Bluetooth

Hi,

I have a MY2005 HSE with integrated bluetooth and have been using an iphone 3g with with no problems. I then upgraded to the software version 3.0 and yippee, it still connected to the car. Now with the 3GS the phone will not auto connect to the car and every time I get in I have to pair the phone to car inputing the code twice before it will accept the phone. Once connected it works as expected but will just not connect automatically. As i understand it the 3G has Bluetooth v2.0 and the 3GS v2.1.

I have tried the usual turn off and then on again and the local dealer claimed I'd just to have to wait for a software upadate but this is going to drive me mad!

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could try please?

TIA

Don't know if it's any help, but i had a few problems connecting my 3Gs via Bluetooth to my Nov 06 Disco. It didn't seem to want to play, but then just about as I had given up hope it connected and now works fine Rolling Eyes

So, as I said, not sure it's of any help, but that was my experience, and I have no idea what I did to get it working, sorry.

Cheers

Jem

P.S. Just re-read the above and this must rank as the most useless post ever Laughing

Jem,

Many thanks, not a useless post at all, it's good to know it can work with the disco. It gives me more ammo when dealing with the stealers to get it sorted!

have yo utried doing a full restore on it? normally works for me, otherwise do the hold both buttons down until it switches off completely, leave for 2 mins, dance a jig and then restart, solves alot of issues...

as said elsewhere, mac's dont crash, but they do unexpectedly quit once in a while, usually switching off and on solves...
Thumbs Up

sorry for useless post at the top, but the offer is still there,,,

Luther-
I was having a similar problem with my new 3GS. Check the bluetooth preferences for the "LAND ROVER" device on your iPhone. The new phone/software lets you choose address book sync options. Mine had been set to sync only contacts from my personal address group and it caused all kinds of hell. Once I switched it back to sync "all contacts", all is well.

ps: i may have beaten Jem for the most useless post after re-reading as well. Smile

Many thanks for your help but nothing is working. I'm pretty sure it's a D3 issue. The phone pairs fine with a Parrot Mki9200 I have in another vehicle, as well as the SWMBO's FL2. The bluetooth options that pherplexed was taking about are not available on my iPhone when paired with the D3 but they are with the Parrot and FL2 Crying or Very sad

Does anyone have any idea if the factory fitted bluetooth hardware is upgradable because this only seems to be an early D3 issue? Or do I just wait for the D4 to come out Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Hi - how do you check bluetooth options on an iPhone 3GS ?? All I can see is the ability to switch bluetooth on or off. I cant see any where in an iPhone to medle with the settings Sad Even selecting "Landrover" the only option brought up is to "forget it"

I ask as my other half on her RRS also has to input the pin twice to complete the pairing. My blackberry storm however pairs automatically with her RRS first time everytime...unlike my D3 which insists I keep inputting the pin Crying or Very sad

your drive must look good, rrs, d3, iphone, blackberry etc etc

question, living with both RRS and D3, which do you prefer...honestly?

My iPhone 3GS pairs fine with my MY05 HSE although I do believe it had the bluetooth upgraded before I purchased it.

I have noticed an oddity or two but not sure if it is the phone, the car or the cradle.

But certainly auto pairs whenever I get in to it!

Not sure this helps but it should work.

Well, it's too early to say to be honest. She has only had the RRS for 2 weeks and she wont let me drive it Big Cry The D3 of course has acres more space for practicality yet the RRS has the nicer interior. Both ride pretty much the same with the D3 having just a little less in the road holding stakes. Both are TDV6's but the RRS seems (un scientifically) just a bit better in fuel economy. Despite both being HSE's the D3 has more toys on board (just options I guess). I think the D3 is a better looking car, she thinks her RRS is better.

it's too tough to call. Shocked

Neil.

No it's not, you just don't want your SWMBO thinking you have the better car in case she wants to drive the D3 and leave you driving the drug dealer limo RRS Whistle
