Just tried Admiral for a multi-car insurance quote and what a great price l have got for the Disco and my sons first car after only just passing his test.
£265 for the year fully comp on the Disco and £1663 for my boys Corsa, best of the rest Adrian Flux @ £2779.
I do have another 2 cars on the policy but excluding my sons l am saving a total of 50% on last years prices, on the Disco alone l am saving £400.
Aswell as that l am starting the policy now with only my sons car on cover and then the other 3 come on at the end of May when my current insurances expire.
l thought it worth sharing this as it seems a really good deal to me.

i am with LR insurance on both D3 and D4 at the moment - couldnt find another insurer who didnt bother about offroad use. NFU were a bit cheaper but didnt use genuine parts for repairs as far as I can remember Duncan

I had a great deal of Admiral muti car a couple of years ago on the D3 and my wifes punto but only lasted a year as the last premium they quoted was increased and dearer than quite a few by a significant amount although kept the D3 with them but due again in August.
Was hoping to do a little bit of off roading in the next twelve months does anyone have any suggestions insurance wise? Do you take it out through 1 insurer or get off road cover seperate? Was also curious to exactly how much has to be added to insurance as mods? Obviously wheels. tyres but how many of you have actually got all the bits and bats added and which ones? There must be some insurance companies that are more resonable on several mods without thinking we are all boy racers?

I couldnt find any insurer other than LR and NFU that covered offroad properly.
some insurers didnt even know what it meant they though it meant SORN
those that did cover offroad only covered green lanes and were very fluffy when i started quizing them on actual offraod cover, ie not a green lane but somewhere like private land or some kind of "event" - which is a word they like even less..
some will say it doesnt matter and if you have a bump or get some damage just drive onto the road etc.
However, if you hit someone and injur them - that approach wont work. the last thing i wanted was to hit someone offroad , injur them or even worse, then find out the insurance company wouldnt cover me because their definition of offrorad was different to mine.
so I stuck with LR Duncan

Sounds about right!
Surely green lanes which they quote as being legal taxable roads would be covered under standard insurance as your not legally off road (so to speak)?
I take it LR insurance is expensive though? Are they actuall underwritten by another company is it actually LR?
Do you actually inform them of items like a FBH mod etc? I suppose its better to have anything that stops them finding an excuse to get out of a payout.

not sure about new policies, mine were taken out in 2010 for both D3 and D4. These are underwritten by Zenith.
upto the point i changed policies in 2010 my policy was underwritten by RSA
And new LR policies DO cover offroad use. they dont cover competition use though, but never have during my policy ownership Duncan
