Insurance Price Hike, Extortion |
|
Anyone else's insurance went nuts this year on renewal?
Just had mine in today and without any rhyme or reason, they want another £250ish over what i paid last year. And that is with no claims, 74% NCD, no accident, convictions....nothing.
Extortion comes to mind.
A friends daughters renewal came in for her Corsa and her's went up by £500 andd again, no claims etc. ATB

Same everywhere (see the Tesco thread)
Look like I'm sticking wuth Tesco, as although they've gone up 80quid, after haggling I got them to £636, (last year £553, renewal quote was originally £691) its nothing like as much as some of the other quotes I got - some were over a grand.

Well just done 3 various online quotes through Direct Line and without business cover inc my father as a named driver is £358.
Taking my father off as a named driver, inc business cover, £382 and putting my father back on the business cover, £434.
These prices above are even cheaper that my renewal price last year with the Coop.
I also tried NFU Mutual, as we have a business policy witht them and even with discounts as an existing customer, they were in the mid £900's ATB

They do appear to have stressed the 'FU' in their name when it comes to 4x4 renewals this year; I'm another switcher, thanks to a ludicrous rise in their premium. Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

I have heard a lot of this about NFU...I am 3/4 into the year and have just swapped from my Double Cab onto the Disco, was expecting to be hunting around but they came back only wanting an extra £26 for the final 1/4. So for the year, that works our at just over an extra hundred which is just over the £400 mark in total for the full year I am guessing the hike will come at the full year renewal....

NFU will be losing my business this time, up from £780 to £1180 this year with no change in circumstances, and that's for a 110 Utility FFS 2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

Blimey. Is that an Admiral Multicar?
I can't beat that. Couple of weeks ago I got my D3 renewal down from £575 (1st Choice) to £320 (Sheila's wheels) and thought that was fair enough... ____

Insurance Companies = robbing b***ards.
They quote you something reasonable to get your business, then come renewal time they take the p*ss. They're just looking for the folk that'll renew and can't be bothered or don't have the time to look around.
Do a search, get a better price and then call your current insurers. They will in all liklihood come down to around the price quoted from elsewhere. So it's fairly obvious that they are just adding money on to your premium for no good reason.
I often think that if an insurance company had keen prices and gave rewards for loyalty, they'd make a killing. Maybe they wouldn't make as much from each policy, but the volume of business would soar.

I did... they weren't interested. They weren't even very good at answering the renewals hotline number. In fact, bl**dy useless. I even emailed them the quote...
