insurance hike - be sitting down

had my insurance last 2 years via Adrian flux, as NFU had gone up a bit too much. last year paid £464 (policy with RSA). Renewal just come through - are you sitting down - £1635, thats with 7 years no claims, and no changes from last year. After speaking to them they say RSA doesnt want the renewal !!

So - give NFU a go, as they have my house, caravan, and wife's car cover. - short answer - they wont take new business for my postcode.

so its onto the tinterweb and the phone Rolling Eyes

RSA used to do LR Insurance but lost that to Lloyd Latchford

I use LR for both the D3 and D4.

Admiral offered a good multi-car price but no off-road cover.

United Kingdom 2016 Discovery 4 3.0 TDV6 HSE Auto Aintree GreenDiscovery 4

I looked around when mine came up in June and stuck with Aviva (been with them for years).

It was about £450 - includes SWMBO as main driver, me and two kids (20yrs olds) as additional drivers.

That is with max NCB and protected. I think the excess is £150

Aviva beat NFU for me by a long way.

Not sure about off road cover tho

Have you tried Tesco insurance? They quoted me £430 as my Direct Line renewal came through at around £630 for this year (up by around £220 from last year).

Will try a few others though before committing.

Cheers,

YTA

Have a crack at either Admiral for both cars - the multi-car policy is excellent - or have a crack at a specialist broker like Footman James who may have an underwriter who wants the risk.

Tesco (with my clubcard bonus) is coming out best at £553 protected NCB and with "finest" replacement car cover, although they charge £34 for green card (comp cover) whilst abroad for up to 31 days, taking it to £587

looks like it might be a go'er.
