inner trackrod joints
Having TFC do the service, he found stuff wrong which I went to the stealer to get sorted before the waranty expires.
Basically
Rear ARB
Front inner trackrod joints slack
Ball joints front slack both sides
Anyway, some of the of the work was rejected by the stealer claiming the slack was with in tolerances and that LR had issued a bulletin (TSB ?) about this.
Does any one have these TSB ? Two independant service workshop have commented on this and LR are giving me the run around, trouble is the next nearest stealer is a good two hours drive.
The lower balljoint was only replaced on one side.
what to do ? heed the advice of two independant firms and call the Norwegian Land Rover and complain or accept that the stealer is correct ?
I gave up my AA membership years ago as I didnt need it with a new vehicle warranty.

Ask them to quote what tolerance is allowed. I would find it difficult to measure TBH, I'd be surprised if they actually measured the said movement. Obviously when a ball joint starts getting movement in it the knocking and wearing become self perpetuating.

FWIW, I have had a very similar experience. TFC did my 4 year service about six weeks ago and pointed out a leaking diff, worn bushes and ball joints & trackrod. He spent a long time on my car for which I am grateful. He also knows alot about the Discovery, often from memory, I would rate him as a highly competent and experienced engineer.
Took the car to Stratestones to get the work done (assuming it was a done deal) and they only fixed a track rod and the diff seal (which I had to pay for), the rest they said was "ok" and could not be done under warranty.
I knew the bushes were worn, our car was clunking and knocking. The rep at Stratstones questioned TFC's competence and told me the clunking was something knocking about in the car. Needless to say I had the work done elsewhere and won't be visiting the dealer again.D4 HSE MY2013 Grey

...........Hmmmm, from my experience, that statement should most definately be aimed the opposite way Stick yer head above the parapet with me Scrapstones, and you WILL get shot...
Not a fan of S stones either. local lot keep ring me up a saying according to their records my D3 needs servicing, well they are wrong it doesn't and even if it did I would not go there.

Well, I used to deal with SStones in the way they deserve but they have worn me down, this was the last straw - I just want to get decent service and have decided to entrust our Disco to TFC. I don't have to deal with some service rep in a shiny green suit or a spotty technician who looks like he has just left school telling me my Landrover Expert doesn't know his a*se from his elbow.
Cold n Wet, I hope you get your problems resolved.D4 HSE MY2013 Grey
